Trivia Club’s fourth annual Trivial Awards took place this past Wednesday at Farside! Celebrating some of the most notable teams and moments in the past year of Trivia Club, the Trivial Awards were created by The Academy of Cultural Questions & Answers (the acronym is pronounced Aqua, because I’m a Barbie Girl in a Barbie World), and though Russel Harder is currently the only member of The Academy that doesn’t make these awards any less legitimate then ones decided by the Hollywood Foreign Press! Awards were indeed handed out, framed around the 46th Trivia Club event at the Friendly Neighbourhood ‘side! This meant that new teams were taking apart along with first time participants as well! Teams wouldn’t be the only thing new on this night either!
 Trivia Classic  came to a close with the Trivial Award-winning Cunning Stunts returning to Farside to take the lead! They held a seven-and-a-half-point lead on their nearest competition, the Super Mongoose Bros. otherwise known as Trivial Award winners The Fighting Mongooses who were not only returning to Farside, but they were also making their first appearance at Trivia Club since The Last Round at Hitch! Three points behind them were Ajulmah, and though the name was brand new, half the team were familiar from Hitch as The Man with the Candy! Four points back from Ajulmah were Trivial Award winners Cookiefaced, who were made their first appearance outside of The Rec Room Roundhouse on this night of Trivia Club celebration and it was great to have them stamp a new location on their Trivia Club passport! Rounding out the Top Five were Trivial Award winners The Last Shaym-Alien ft. Benji! Joel, The Last Shaym-Alien, had previously been joined by Benji at Lou Dawgs for Trivia Club! Nibbler the Great, a newcomer on the night, was in sixth place with a half a point lead on seventh place team The D-P’s, while Just Cassie was in eighth, a full point behind Nibbler the Great!

 Game Show Games  then began with a Countdown Takedown that saw Ajulmah swing big and take the ten point answer for themselves! This brought them within half a point of the Cunning Stunts who were left pointless, while the Super Mongoose Bros. took the lead with the eight point answer. Getting six points were Cookiefaced, while The Last Shaym-Alien nabbed four points, as did Nibbler the Great! Survey Says then saw the Cunning Stunts with the first guess, and a great one it was, for eight points! Ajulmah however continued their ace second round with another ten point answer! With the six point answer were The D-P’s, while Super Mongoose Bros. nabbed four points, and Cookiefaced wrapped up the game with the final guess for two points! Then it was time to unveil a NEW GAME SHOW… called TOP TEN! Following the spirit of Combo Breakdown, Top Ten allows teams to make one guess within a specific Top Ten with the further down the Ten they go netting them more points! The number one answer might be more obvious but it’s only a single point, and number ten may be less obvious… but it’s in fact the TOP TEN points! And if you guess the eleventh spot? Unfortunately you get zero points! The Last Shaym-Alien gained one point in this inaugural game, while the Cunning Stunts grabbed two points! Getting six points were the Super Mongoose Bros., and with eight points were The D-P’s! Getting the TOP TEN with the first guess however, once again connecting on a big guess, Ajulmah!

This meant that heading into  Tri-Pardo , The Man with the Candy’s Ajulmah team-up had taken a strong lead against a strong field on this Trivial Awards night! Rolling for the first category and putting seventeen points into the first question for round three were The D-P’s, while rolling for the second category making it a sixteen point question was Just Cassie! Finally with the third category it was Cookiefaced’s turn and they rolled seven points for the question (almost three consecutive times as well, mind you)! This meant a solid forty points were on the line! It proved a difficult third question however so no team would get the triple, but multiple teams were gain thirty-three points from the first and second categories! With an additional thirty-three points were Ajulmah, as well as the Super Mongoose Bros., Cookiefaced, and The D-P’s! Cunning Stunts gained sixteen points from the second category, while losing seventeen points were The Last Shaym-Alien ft. Benji!

 Trivia Finale  wagering saw a selection of blind wagers at play with six points left behind by Super Mongoose Bros. while only twenty points were wagered by The D-P’s. Cookiefaced had a half point advantage on the Cunning Stunts, but both teams went all in! Also going all-in were Ajulmah, keeping their lead on both the Mongoose Bros. and the wider field! This meant that to win on Trivial Awards night it meant that the team would have to answer that last question correctly…

Finishing as runners-up on the night with an impressive 166 points were the Super Mongoose Bros. Cookiefaced would end the night one point ahead of the Cunning Stunts, in third, 138 points to 137 points! Ending the night with 190 points however, the fifth highest score all-time at Farside, it’s the FIRST GOLDEN VHS for AJULMAH and the FIFTH for those in The Man with the Candy! Five Timers Club? FIVE TIMERS CLUB!

Congrats once again to Ajulmah, who also win the Linear Championship, and thank you to everyone who was able to make it out and take part in Trivia Club this past Wednesday! It’s always a pleasure to put together the Trivial Awards, thank you for allowing this fun and trivial idea to continue to roll along! We’ll see you again in TWO WEEKS on March 18th at Farside for a St. Patrick’s Day hangover, and in 2021 for the fifth annual Trivial Awards!

Wednesday saw our 45th edition of Trivia Club at the Friendly Neighbourhood ‘side of the street! Who would walk away with the win at Farside? With a mix of regular teams at Gerrard and Broadview, as well as some competitive newcomers, we would have to wait and see!

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with the M. Night Shaym-Aliens in the lead against the field, the trio had a two point advantage on 2 Fast 2 Curious who were looking to repeat as Champs on the night! Four and a half points back were Quiz Knows, newcomers with an excellent name, and one point behind them were another couple of newcomers in J & J! Finally, three and a half point back from the newcomers were the Cunning Stunts, making their 197th appearance at a Trivia Club event and proving with this Top Five (top five top five) the kind of competitive field on this night!

 Game Show Games  then saw 2 Fast 2 Curious grab the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown and gain the leaders spot, with eight points going to the Cunning Stunts, six points to Quiz Knows, four points to the final guessers the M. Night Shaym-Aliens, and a couple of good points to J & J! Then in Survey Says it was the M. Night Shaym-Aliens who were left pointless, while J & J grabbed another two points, the Cunning Stunts grabbed four points, 2 Fast 2 Curious grow their lead with eight points, and Quiz Knows grabbed the TOP TEN to move into second place!

 Tri-Pardo  was important for everyone, especially if they wanted to catch up with 2 Fast 2 Curious, and the first category was rolled for nine points by Cunning Stunts, the second category was rolled for eight points by Quiz Knows, and finally the third category was rolled for thirteen points by 2 Fast 2 Curious! This meant a full thirty points were on the line! Hitting for the triple and gaining the second spot were the Cunning Stunts, who were now just seven points behind 2 Fast 2 Curious who had picked up twenty-two points from the first and third questions! Also grabbing twenty-two points were the M. Night Shaym-Aliens who stayed in third, and grabbing nine points in the first question and falling to fourth place were Quiz Knows!

 Trivia Finale  wagering saw Quiz Knows maybe sensing their fallen spot and only wagering twenty points in a bet against the field! The Shaym-Aliens left five on the board, while the Cunning Stunts and 2 Fast 2 Curious went all in! When the dust settled… two of the four teams would answer the final question correctly… and it would be the teams that went all in!

Runners-up on the night were the Cunning Stunts, who finished the night with 137 points! Winning their TWENTY-NINTH GOLDEN VHS CHAMPIONSHIP, a repeat win at Farside for their TENTH Gold Tape at the location, breaking their tie with Team Name to become the fifth-winningest all-time… 2 FAST 2 CURIOUS! The team formerly known as Last Place Team finished the night with 151 points, their twentieth Sesquicentennial Mark which ties them for second-most all-time with the Electric Mayhem.

Congrats to 2 Fast 2 Curious, and thank you to everyone who came out to have so much fun at Farside this past Wednesday! We will see you all again TWO WEEKS on February 19th when we return to Farside, and keep a look out for more information on the fourth annual Trivial Awards!

It was our return to the Friendly Neighbourhood ‘side for 2020, and on that return to Farside this past Wednesday for the 44th edition of Trivia Club it was an intimate affair, a night of returns, comebacks, and all-around good times!

 Trivia Classic  ended with 2 Fast 2 Curious returning to take a lead on the field, a six point lead on the next closest team Brewer’s Yeast Infection – The Infection Spreads, who added some new members to the team for their first appearance at Farside in a few months! Wiz Quids were in third place after the first round!  Game Show Games  then saw 2 Fast 2 Curious take the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, while Brewer’s Yeast Infection had the TOP TEN in Survey Says, after being left pointless in Countdown Takdown! Still, 2 Fast 2 Curious built on their lead by also gaining eight points in Survey Says!

Finally in  Tri-Pardo  it was a total of thirty-nine points rolled, and hitting for the triple were 2 Fast 2 Curious! Brewer’s Yeast Infection gained thirty-six points from the second and third questions, but lost three points on the first question to gain a net of thirty-three points in round three! This meant that heading into the  Trivia Finale , 2 Fast 2 Curious had the advantage but they just didn’t know how big of an advantage they had (it was twenty points)!

Both teams went all in on the last question… and both teams got the answer correct! This left the returning Brewer’s Yeast Infection as runners-up on the night with 128 points, while 2 FAST 2 CURIOUS won their ninth Golden VHS at Farside, making them the winningest team at the Friendly Neighbourhood ‘side, and TWENTY-EIGHTH GOLDEN VHS overall, tying them with Team Name all-time! Finishing with 168 points, 2 Fast 2 Curious also get their nineteenth Sesquicentennial Mark all-time as well, bringing them within one of the Electric Mayhem! It's also a year minus a day since their debut at Farside on January 15th, 2019!

Congrats to 2 Fast 2 Curious once more, and thank you to everyone who came out for Trivia Club this past Wednesday, to take part in it and enjoy it from the bar! We will see you again at Farside in THREE WEEKS on WEDNESDAY February 5th! This will also when everyone will get a chance to fill out ballots for the OSCAR CONFIDENCE POOL as well, if you don’t do so on-line!

With our monthly schedule to close our year at Farside it both felt like we hadn't enjoyed enough Trivia Club at the Friendly Neighborhood 'side this fall, and that our next edition would be TOO FAR AWAY! Well fear not, it was another memorable edition of Canada's Greatest Game Show, juuust west of Broadview and Gerrard and though this was the final trivia night at Farside for 2019, we would be back in early January of 2020!

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with the Cunning Stunts in the lead, on their 196th appearance at Trivia Club! A point and a half behind them in second place after the first round were Vampire Weekend at Bernie's! This wonderfully named group saw Sean and Emily of the M. Night Shaym-Aliens bring together a family filled team to compete at Farside! Five points away from the Vamps were 2 Fast 2 Curious, looking to defend their Championship from November! Two and a half points behind in fourth place were The Beliebers, with Farside regulars Rugrats rounding out the Top Five (top five top five) a point behind them and in sixth place just a half point back, SKSKSK anniopp hydroflask collective! Yes, it was a tight field from third to sixth with just four points separating the four teams!

 Game Show Games  then saw not one but two teams grab the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, with both 2 Fast 2 Curious and Vampire Weekend at Bernie's gaining big on the rest of the field and moving past Cunning Stunts as a result. Then in Survey Says it was Beliebers who grabbed the TOP TEN, to gain a foothold in the field, while Vampire Weekend at Bernie's added to their second round lead, SKSKSK anniopp hydroflask collective picked up six, and 2 Fast 2 Curious gained four points!

Heading into our third round of  Tri-Pardo  this meant that the Cunning Stunts who were left pointless in round two had lost their advantage to Vampire Weekend at Bernie's, while 2 Fast 2 Curious had also gained an advantage, and The Beliebers were now tied with the Cunning Stunts! 2 Fast 2 Curious chose the first category and rolled for sixteen, while the Cunning Stunts chose the second category and their newest team member impressively rolled a one, and finally SKSKSK anniopp hydroflask collective chose the third category and rolled a seventeen! This meant that thirty-four points were on the line but stakes were decidedly lower for the center question. Still the Cunning Stunts hit for the triple and gained thirty-four points! Both Vampire Weekend at Bernie's and SKSKSK anniopp hydroflask collective gained thirty-two points from answering the first and third questions correctly but the second incorrectly, meaning that the Cunning Stunts had infact lost their advantage on their own roll! Gaining sixteen points on the first question, falling off the pace in the third was Farside's reigning Champs, 2 Fast 2 Curious!

This meant that in the  Trivia Finale  the advantage was in Vampire Weekend at Bernie's court, but with everyone going all-in on the final wager and no point being left behind, it came down to one last question to end 2019! With the answers in, all teams answered correctly... and this meant that 2 Fast 2 Curious finished in fourth with 122 points, SKSKSK anniopp hydroflask collective finished in third with 130 points, and the Cunning Stunts were runners-up with 145 points!

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with the narrowest of margins separating the top two teams as only half a point lay between the M. Night Shaym-Aliens and the Cunning Stunts in first and second. Four points off the lead, and three and a half from the Stunts were the returning 2 Fast 2 Curious! If the Shaym-Aliens had been the team of Farside's first year, the team formerly known as Last Place Team had become the team of Farside's second year, wracking up big wins as they became regulars at the Friendly Neighborhood 'side! Having missed the first half of the chase for the Head of Class however it would be an up hill battle for the Golden Skull! Just four points back from third place and eight off the lead were Team Lithgow, making their seventh appearance since May of 2019, the usual duo was a foursome on this night and were ready for their first big win. Just four and a half points back from the good folks in Lithgow were newcomers "The" Terminator 2! whose use of quotations, though unknown to me, made said team name quite enjoyable.

 Game Show Games  then looked to shift the momentum of the night in a certain direction, as in Countdown Takedown it was the Cunning Stunts who grabbed the TOP TEN and the lead! 2 Fast 2 Curious took eight points, the M. Night Shaym-Aliens picked up six, while "The" Terminator 2! got four, and Team Lithgow nabbed two points. Then in Survey Says it was 2 Fast 2 Curious who got the eight point answer again for the lead, while Team Lithgow got the TOP TEN and the Cunning Stunts were the only team left pointless, while still holding the edge on the Shaym-Aliens who were able to get the two point Survey answer.

Of course this led to  Tri-Pardo , which was all the more important in our night's action with its further ramifications into the annual Grand Championship picture at Farside! The M. Night Shaym-Aliens rolled the first category for six points, while the Cunning Stunts rolled the second category for thirteen points, and Team Lithgow rolled the third category for fourteen points! With thirty-three points on the line, it was more then enough to make an impact! Hitting for the triple, going three for three in the third round, were the 2 Fast 2 Curious, the Cunning Stunts, and Team Lithgow! This kept Lithgow in the hunt, but held 2 Curious in the lead on the night, and the Stunts in the lead for the Head of Class! The Shaym-Aliens gained nineteen points from the first and second questions but could not answer the third, while "The" Terminator 2! added twenty-seven points from the second and third questions!

This brought us to the  Trivia Finale  that could decide the night and the Grand Championship, with even 2 Fast 2 Curious in range of Uncle Rubberknee's Head of Class if they were able to wager and result with more then 151 points, along with more then a little luck. All teams went all in, save for Team Lithgow who kept a point and a half behind... and though that point and a half wouldn't matter it was only because Team Lithgow wouldn't win the Golden VHS on this night. They would however answer the Finale correctly!

Also answering the Finale correctly, and finishing the night with 159 points... and winning their eighth Golden VHS at Farside to tie all-time with the Shaym-Aliens, and their TWENTY-SEVENTH GOLDEN VHS overall... 2 FAST 2 CURIOUS! This was also their eighteenth Sesquicentennial Mark!

That 159 point total on the night would also give them the runner-up spot for Head of Class for our second anniversary at Farside! 2 Fast 2 Curious' second night total bested the first night total of the M. Night Shaym-Aliens with 151 points in third overall, and the Cunning Stunts with 138.5 points for fourth overall, after the night one winner and runner-up finished with zero points on night two alongside "The" Terminator 2!

Finishing in fourth on night one with 122 points, and runners-up on night two this past Wednesday with 141.5 points to end our anniversary celebration with 263.5 points in aggregate... becoming the 2018/2019 UNCLE RUBBERKNEE'S HEAD OF CLASS... TEAM LITHGOW! Though they become just the second team to win a Grand Championship without having won a Golden VHS, joining Not Turner the 2018 Grand Champs at The Rec Room Roundhouse, with this being Team Lithgow's seventh appearance across seven months they has proven a consistency and competitiveness worthy of Farside's Head of Class!

Congratulations once more to 2 Fast 2 Curious, a Grand congratulations once more to Team Lithgow, and thank you to everyone who made it such a fun second anniversary celebration at the Friendly Neighborhood Farside! We will see you all again NEXT MONTH on December 18th as we return for the final Trivia Club of 2019 at Farside!  Trivia Classic  came to an end, with all teams tonight chasing not only the top score but also a strong score to add to the aggregate in three weeks, as the M. Night Shaym-Aliens held the lead! The Shaym-Aliens are the inaugural Head of Class at Farside in 2018, and are also tied for most wins at the location with seven VHS alongside 2 Fast 2 Curious! Though 2 Fast 2 Curious were absent, only half a point behind the Shaym-Aliens were the Cunning Stunts! Having won their sixty-ninth Golden VHS four events ago at the end of August, and their first of this past year, the Cunning Stunts were looking for their third Grand Championship to add to their Top Dawg Trophy and Golden VCR victory! It should also be remembered that the Stunts were just 17 points behind the Shaym-Aliens in 2018 as runners-up for the Gilded Skull! In third place were the returning Team Lithgow, back at Farside after four events away as well and ready for their first big win at Trivia Club! They were also joined by an alumni of Cardinal Rule Trivia Club, Chip's Challenge, as well as a participant of Trivia Club at The Rec Room! One and a half points behind Lithgow on fourth was last week's winner Team Erin McWhirter, joined by friends on her birthday no less! Rounding out the Top Five (top five top five) were newcomers The Quiztin Tarantinos!

 Game Show Games  then naturally began with Countdown Takedown! The M. Night Shaym-Aliens were able to nab the TOP TEN, while Team Erin McWhirter grabbed eight points, the Cunning Stunts nabbed six points, The Quiztin Tarantinos grabbed four points, and Team Lithgow made a couple of good points! Survey Says then had the field sweep the answer slate clean, with the Shaym-Aliens grabbing the TOP TEN once again, and Team Erin McWhirter grabbing another eight points to slip into second place. The three other teams grabbed enough points each to make eight points each overall in round two!

 Tri-Pardo  then began with a four point roll from The Quiztin Tarantinos, followed by a nineteen point roll by Team Erin McWhirter, and finally a thirteen point roll by the Cunning Stunts! This meant that thirty-six points were on the line across our three round three questions. Grabbing thirty-two points were Team Erin McWhirter and Team Lithgow! Hitting for the triple however and locking down that tricky four point first question were The Quiztin Tarantinos, the Cunning Stunts, and the momentum carrying M. Night Shaym-Aliens!

While a point or half a point were left on the board by most teams, the M. Night Shaym-Aliens sensed they could leave a bit more on the shelf and wagered all but thirteen points! With the  Trivia Finale  locked in... one team were felled by the last question! The Quiztin Tarantinos finished with 1 point in fifth! Finishing in fourth with 122 points were Team Lithgow, while third place on the night with 136 points were the Champs from two weeks prior, Team Erin McWhirter! Runners-up on the night, but just twelve and a half points off the lead were the Cunning Stunts with 138.5 points! With those points, the Cunning Stunts become the first team to score more then 15,000 points all-time at Trivia Club... and to put that in a brighter light, the only other team to score more then 9,000 points are the M. Night Shaym-Aliens.

This meant that winning their THIRTY-SIXTH GOLDEN VHS overall, and eighth Golden VHS at Farside, last year's Head of Class and now in the lead for the 2019 edition of this second anniversary Grand Championship, finishing with 151 points...the M. NIGHT SHAYM-ALIENS! This is the twelfth time that the Shaym-Aliens have crossed the Sesquicentennial Mark! It is also the first win at Farside since their VHS victory for leg one of LAST YEAR of the Head of Class!

On an intimate occasion in the lead up of our first leg of anniversary festivities at Farside, Flavourtown and Team Erin McWhirter + one went head to head! After round one,  Trivia Classic  saw Team Erin McWhirter + one with the plus one point on Flavourtown!  Game Show Games  then saw Flavourtown nab the lead for themselves with the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown! Then in Survey Says, Team Erin McWhirter + one nabbed the four point answer, while Flavourtown were able to grab eight points! Ultimately both teams were still quite close, but  Tri-Pardo  would shake things out even further! Fifty-three points could potentially be won, and Flavourtown would gain thirty-five of those from the first and third questions! Also answering the first and third correctly but second question incorrectly, to gain seventeen points, was Team Erin!

This led to a wager then saw Erin + one go all in save for half a point, while Flavourtown wagered fifty-three points! Ultimately though, it would be fifty-five points lost, as they finished the night with 30.5 points! This would also mean that Flavourtown were runners-up... and winning their FIRST GOLDEN VHS on the night... with 124.5 points... TEAM ERIN MCWHIRTER + ONE!

Congrats once more to Team Erin McWhirter + one, and thank you again to everyone who came out to compete at Farside this past Wednesday! In TWO WEEKS we return to the Friendly Neighborhood 'side for the first leg of our two event GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP at Farside to celebrate our second anniversary at the location! That's right, it's the return of Uncle Rubberknee's Head of Class... or more to the point, A GOLDEN SKULL!

Trivia Club returned to the Friendly Neighbourhood confines of Farside this past Wednesday for our thirty-ninth event, with returning Golden VHS champions going head to head with a collection of newcomers! Who would take home the prize, and would Mike Vernon be in that pack of hockey cards? (Yes, he would!)

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with the returning REDACTED in the lead! This was the first appearance for REDACTED since their debut and win at the twenty-fifth event at Farside in February! They held a strong lead on the field with 32.5 points, which was immediately tested in round two,  Game Show Games , as a new team in Vibeology entered the field and immediately got to the chase with the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown (while REDACTED was kept pointless), before grabbing another TOP TEN in Survey Says, while REDACTED picked up six points! Still with a strong lead for REDACTED, thirty-four total points were rolled in round three  Tri-Pardo ! Hitting for the triple were Vibeology, though REDACTED still got the first and third questions correct and added another thirty points to their total!

 Trivia Finale  wagering was all the more unpredictable, as REDACTED knew they had the lead but wondered just how much of a lead they had… and both teamed wagered relatively conservatively, with REDACTED being able to take the win as long as both teams answered correctly or incorrectly, but Vibeology still having a chance if they answered the last question correctly and REDACTED did not answer the Finale correctly!

This is what happened! REDACTED finished the night with 46.5 points, while VIBEOLOGY entered the night for round two and put their foot on the gas to finish the night with 84 points and the GOLDEN VHS CHAMPIONSHIP!

We returned to Farside this past Wednesday for a family affair, as the last long weekend of the summer meant a more intimate occasion of the Greatest Game Show in Canada for Your Friendly Neighborhood ‘side!

 Trivia Classic  saw Winner of the 2018 Participation Award with a five point lead on WIN DMC, while Older Not Wiser had a fair amount of points to make up on the rest of the field. Luckily Older Not Wiser was able to begin putting the working in, grabbing the TOP TEN in both the Countdown Takedown and Survey Says round two  Game Show Games , while WIN DMC grabbed a collective fourteen points, and Winner of the 2018 Participation Award grabbed a collective ten points!

 Tri-Pardo  is were the night really shifted for the Robinson’s however, as WIN DMC was able to answer the first and third questions correctly for twenty-four points, while Winner of the 2018 Participation Award gained seven points from the first question but lost seventeen on the third question and thus lost ten points in round three, and the lead as well! Finding himself in second before the Finale was Older Not Wiser who refrained from any answers and thus kept safe!

For the  Trivia Finale , WIN DMC then decided to not wager anything with his comfortable lead… or was it comfortable?! Older Not Wiser went all in, and in answering correctly finished with sixty-one points, which was good for runner-up! Just like when 2 Fast 2 Curious battled at The Ace in late November of 2018, one point would make the difference between the winner and the loser, this time the Winner of the 2018 Participation Award would not finish as runner-up however, but finish third with fifty-five points!

One point ahead of his father now, and the latest in a short list of SOLO CHAMPS, with sixty-two points… WIN DMC! Jarrad had also finished one point ahead of his father at The Ace on the fifteenth edition of Trivia Club at that location, and now has a Golden VHS with Beavis and Butthead for the first all-family edition of Trivia Club on the thirty-eighth edition at Farside!

Congrats once more to WIN DMC, and we’ll everyone (and more) in TWO WEEKS on our third week of September edition of Trivia Club on September 18th, WEDNESDAY!

This past Wednesday at Farside proved as wildly competitive as always, with some of our most reliable participants taking part in the festivities, while also welcoming old friends, location regulars, and all new faces! All in the spirit of our first consecutive event, our thirty-seventh event at the Friendly Neighbourhood ‘side!

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with 2 Fast 2 Curious looking to win their second consecutive Golden VHS at their new regular location, and sweep their first ever month as well after consistently winning one Golden VHS a month at Farside since April! The Cunning Stunts were just one point behind however, making their third appearance in four events, and looking to break their Golden drought! In third place were Team Name, who were making just their second appearance at Farside after having competed at our premiere event at the Friendly Neighbourhood ‘side! Team Lithgow & Guests were returning for their fifth event, and were in fourth place, with a five point lead on the returning Not Bad Blokes! Half a point behind them were Written and Directed by Quiztan Tarantino, who themselves had a one point lead on “I Am The Quizzard King!”, and one point behind in this log jam of teams were alumni of the Stunts and friends of Team Name, The Foreign Debt! Rounding out the field, joining in mid-way through the first round, were A & R!

 Game Show Games  began with Countdown Takedown, which saw The Foreign Debt take the TOP TEN, while 2 Fast 2 Curious grabbed eight points, the Cunning Stunts nabbed six points, I Am The Quizzard King took four points, and A & R nabbed two points! Then in Survey Says, A & R once again grabbed two points, while Written and Directed by Quiztan Tarantino got on the board in round two with eight points, while The Foreign Debt got the TOP TEN! Unfortunately left pointless in round two were Team Name, Not Bad Blokes, and Team Lithgow & Guests!

 Tri-Pardo  then began with an eleven point roll by Team Name, followed by a sixteen point roll by A & R, and finished with a seventeen point roll by the Cunning Stunts! This meant that a nearly traditional forty-four points were on the line in round three! Hitting for the triple in the third round, and locking in those first through fourth spots were 2 Fast 2 Curious, Cunning Stunts, Team Name, and Written and Directed by Quiztan Tarantino! The Foreign Debt had now slipped down to fifth, but had gained twenty-eight points from the first and third categories, as did Team Lithgow & Guests! Picking up eleven points were A & R from the first category!

 Trivia Finale  wagering was strongly all-in with only half a point left behind by Team Lithgow & Guests to keep things interesting! If all teams answered incorrectly then it would be only the second time in the history of Trivia Club that a team had won by and with half a point! It was not to be as two teams did answer correctly! One of those teams would not be 2 Fast 2 Curious, who lost their 101 points that were on the line, thus keeping them from matching the Fighting Mongooses with their second 200+ point night of the year!

Finishing as runners-up were Team Name, who ended the night with 172 points on their second night at Farside, which also stood as a new personal best high score for the team on their 167th overall event! Winning on the night however, with 196 points, giving them their SIXTY-NINTH GOLDEN VHS… the CUNNING STUNTS! This ended the Golden VHS drought for Trivia Club’s winningest team, and not for lack of high scoring, but a drought that saw the Cunning Stunts go 484 days or almost 16 full months, since April 18th, 2018 in a Golden VCR battle against the Fighting Mongooses, without a win amongst admittedly more sporadic appearances.

On a humid summer night in July, Trivia Club found a hot crowd at Farside this past Wednesday for the thirty-fifth edition of the Greatest Game Show in Toronto brought to you by the Friendly Neighborhood ‘side! It was a collection of long-time teams, first time faces, and a bar full of patrons who were not playing but certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves.

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with the Cunning Stunts in a strong stop in first place! Trivia Club’s winningest team, making their second consecutive appearance at Farside, had an eight point lead on the next two teams tied for the number two spot! 2 Fast 2 Curious who were looking for the threepeat victory at Farside, what would be their third location in which they won a threepeat, were all tied up with newcomers the wonderfully named Hungry Hungry Hippocampuses. Three points behind in fourth were the also well named (in a different way) newcomers Something about Paul Rudd lol! Running with Quizzors rounded out the Top Five (top five top five), with Sweaty Summer rounding out the field!

Our second round of  Game Show Games  then saw the Cunning Stunts grab the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, with a one dollar, Bob! That game move then led to a Survey Says that proved unpredictable, with Something about Paul Rudd lol getting the TOP TEN, while 2 Fast 2 Curious grabbed eight points, and ultimately the Cunning Stunts, who were still in first, and Hungry Hungry Hippocampuses, who found themselves falling to fourth place, were left pointless!

 Tri-Pardo  then began with an eighteen point roll by the Cunning Stunts for the first question, followed by another eighteen point roll by Running with Quizzors for the second question, and finally a thirteen point roll by Hungry Hungry Hippocampuses for the third question! This meant that forty-nine points were on the line in our third round! No team would hit for the triple, though Hungry Hungry Hippocampuses would jump into the number one spot with a thirty-one point swing from the second and third questions! Running with Quizzors would gain thirteen points, as would 2 Fast 2 Curious! Cunning Stunts would slip to fourth place by losing five points, with a correct third question but an incorrect first question! In second place before the Finale were Something about Paul Rudd lol who gained eighteen points from the first question!

This meant that in the  Trivia Finale , it was the newcomers with the advantage, with each of the first time teams taking a different angle on the wager! Hungry Hungry Hippocampuses would go all in save for a single point, while Something about Paul Rudd lol would wager ten points, and Running with Quizzors would wager seven points! 2 Fast 2 Curious would go all in, as would the Cunning Stunts! Of the five teams, two would answer incorrectly… 2 Fast 2 Curious, who would finish in fifth, and Something about Paul Rudd lol who would end their first Trivia Club with the third place spot, a point ahead of Running with Quizzors.

Runners-up on the night would be the Cunning Stunts, and they would have to continue to wait patiently for their sixty-ninth Golden VHS, because the night’s GOLDEN VHS CHAMPS, winning the First and Gold, on their first Trivia Club event… HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOCAMPUSES! The first time participants and winners, ended the night with 127 points at the Friendly Neighborhood ‘side!

It was a low key night of highly competitive trivia at Farside, for the thirty-fourth edition of Trivia Club at the Friendly Neighborhood ‘side! We were joined by a new team, a regular team, and an all-time team as well! Who would walk away with the Golden VHS?

The Cunning Stunts led the field after  Trivia Classic , with an eleven point lead on the nearest team after round one! Having not won since May of 2018 the winningest team in Trivia Club history were chomping at the bit to win the Golden VHS on their sixth appearance at Farside since their last win at the eighth event at Farside! In second place after the first round were Herb Herbschlinger, newcomers at Trivia Club, who had a point and a half advantage on 2 Fast 2 Curious, or 2 Fast? 2 Curious! Farside’s new home team were looking to repeat as Golden VHS champs but would have an up hill battle ahead of them!

In round two,  Game Show Games , the Cunning Stunts gained the first TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown though 2 Fast 2 Curious grabbed the eight point spot which allowed them to grab a half point advantage on Herb Herbschlinger who nabbed six points! Herb Herbschlinger grabbed another six points for Survey Says while 2 Fast 2 Curious grabbed the TOP TEN, and the Cunning Stunts once again went for eight points!

In round three our  Tri-Pardo  round of Trivia Club, it was 2 Fast 2 Curious with the first choice which they rolled eleven points for, while Herb Herbschlinger followed it up with a seventeen point roll, and finally the Cunning Stunts rounded out the third with a sixteen point roll for the third category! This meant that forty-four points were on the line! Hitting for the triple were both 2 Fast 2 Curious as well as the Cunning Stunts who kept their sizable lead! For the  Trivia Finale , the Cunning Stunts wagered everything but three points, while 2 Fast 2 Curious wagered it all, as did Herb Herbschlinger! So even with a strong game across the board for the Cunning Stunts it would come down to the Finale question!

It would be their undoing, as answering incorrectly left the Cunning Stunts in the runner-up spot and still waiting for their sixty-ninth win, while getting their repeat win and TWENTY-FIFTH GOLDEN VHS, making them just the sixth team to join the FIVExFIVE-TIMERS CLUB… 2 FAST 2 CURIOUS! 2 Fast 2 Curious finish off the night with 161 points, their sixteenth Sesquicentennial Mark to go along with their sixth VHS at Farside!
