Welcome one and all to a recap of Trivia Club at  THE REC ROOM  across Canada! We’re celebrating the CHAMPIONS and the TOP SCORES at The Rec Room locations in Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ontario, looking at how they did on the night, and how they stack up against each other! Last week on March 3rd it was Cookiefaced at The Roundhouse in Toronto with the high score Canada-wide at Trivia Club! The TOP FIVE SCORES for Trivia Club at The Rec Room for the week of March 10th, 2020 breakdown as follows:

A familiar team topped the 114th event at The Rec Room Roundhouse in  TORONTO  with host and Trivia Club creator Russel Harder (center), as Cookiefaced won their sixth of eight events so far this year and their EIGHTEENTH GOLDEN VHS overall with 151 points on the night, good for the top score Across Canada! Finishing as runners-up on the night were Self-Quarantined, also known as Dead on the Inside, whose 127 points was good for the third highest score in the country, and third place finishers on the night Trivial Pursuits finished with the fourth highest score in Canada after taking home 116 points! CLICK HERE FOR A FULL RECAP OF THE NIGHT!

It was a wild finish to the 36th edition of Trivia Club at  MISSISSAUGA ’s Square One location of The Rec Room with guest host Ariel Kagan (standing right), as last week's winners FTR returned and OH NO! were tied with Marko's Angels heading into the Finale question... but it was Let's Get Quizzical who held out for the victory, from just two points off the lead to the sole team with points at the end of the night, finishing with 132 points and the second-highest score Across Canada! The 132 points from Let's Get Quizzical also tie for the second-highest score in the history of the Trivia Club in Mississauga!

The 19th event this past Wednesday at The Rec Room Avalon in  ST. JOHN'S  with host Russell Cochrane (picture to come), saw another close finish but not quiiite the tie-breaker from last week as Da Dicky Chicks won the night with 98 points, the fifth highest score Across Canada! Runners-up on the night were Fashionably Late with 92 points, while Sundunces finished in third with 88 points!
With the 37th event at the South Commons in  EDMONTON  hosted by Ed Childs (not pictured),  Titans of Trivia returned to the winners circle with a 73 point victory over the field! Runners-up on the night with 29 points were Gregski 2.0!

We had a nice and competitive crowd out for the 9th event at Deerfoot in  CALGARY  hosted by Sammy Jurkowski (not pictured), with the Finale question felling the house team in Calgary, the Cunning Chimeras who finished with 1 point! Taking their place in the winners circle with 64 points were Blockheads with 64 points, while runners-up were Tuesday isn't Thursday who finished with 50 points!

At the 35th event at the West Edmonton Mall in  EDMONTON  hosted by CTV's Graham Neil (not pictured), the Quizzers of Oz won the night with 54 points, while the Barfing Dragons finished as runners-up with 24 points.

For our return to Trivia Club at The Rec Room Roundhouse we saw not only the return of regular faces to the Three10 restaurant space, but also a team from year one of trivia, and an excellent collection of first time faces! We were also happy to award tickets to go see an early screening on this night, to A Quiet Place II!

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with Cookiefaced in the lead against the field, and on this night Cookiefaced were making their eighteenth consecutive appearance since October of last year which gives them the fifth longest appearance streak all-time at Trivia Club, just two behind The Bastards twenty consecutive appearances at Lou Dawgs for fourth all-time, but still forty behind The Fighting Mongooses fifty-eight all-time consecutive appearances at Hitch! Just one point behind Cookiefaced were The Questionables, who were making there first appearance since winning the Socratic Shield at the Trivial Awards! In third place, three points behind second place, was Self-Quarantined who was better known as Dead on the Inside… another Trivial Award winner (he won for Team/Player), making their first appearance since the Awards! In fourth place, two and a half points away from the Team/Player were Trivial Pursuits, with a half point lead on fellow newcomers Team Hedgehog! Making their return in sixth place, for the first time in almost two years were Grey Matter, followed by DTB to round out the field!

 Game Show Games  then proved spread out enough to have the field write down their answers on their sheets, which meant the potential for more points to go around! Cookiefaced were able to grab the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, while Grey Matter grabbed eight points, Trivial Pursuits picked up six points, The Questionables took four points, and Self-Quarantined made a couple of quality points! Then in Survey Says it was smart answer for all teams, as the FIELD got EIGHT POINTS!

 Tri-Pardo  then saw the categories chosen and rolled for thirty-six total points! Hitting for the triple and gaining those thirty-six points were Cookiefaced, Grey Matter, Self-Quarantined, and Trivial Pursuits! DTB lost six points, while The Questionables gained twenty-one! This meant that The Questionables slipped behind both Grey Matter and Self-Quarantined in the fight to catch Cookiefaced, and Dead on the Inside’s Self-Quarantined held a one point advantage on second place! Wagering for the Trivia Finale then saw a diverse selection of points on the board! Only DTB went truly all-in, while Trivial Pursuits left fifteen on the board, The Questionables wagered thirty-five, Grey Matter wagered only eight, and Self-Quarantined and Cookiefaced each only left one behind!

Once the dust settled on the last question, it was Self-Quarantined finishing the night as the runner-up with 127 points on the night! Winning their EIGHTEENTH GOLDEN VHS on their eighteenth consecutive appearance, tying them with The Questionables as the all-time winners at The Rec Room, boosted by 151 points on the night and six wins in the eight events just in 2020 alone… COOKIEFACED!

With the 113th event at The Rec Room Roundhouse in  TORONTO  with host and Trivia Club creator Russel Harder (right), Cookiefaced returned to their winning ways with their SEVENTEENTH Golden VHS victory at The Roundhouse with 144 points on the night. Runners-up behind the top score across Canada, were The Questionables who scored the fourth highest score in Canada with 126 points! CLICK HERE FOR A FULL RECAP OF THE NIGHT!

The 18th event this past Wednesday at The Rec Room Avalon in  ST. JOHN'S  with host Russell Cochrane (right, close-up), it was the first TIE-BREAKER in Newfoundland and Labrador! Jejunum and the Small Intestines would take the win against #bringbackineflu, taking home the victory, though both teams would nab the second highest point total across the country with 132 points a piece. Third place on the night with 125 points and the fifth highest score in Canada were Sundunces! The trivia community is certainly growing nicely in St. John's!
At the 8th event at Deerfoot in  CALGARY  hosted by Sammy Jurkowski (not pictured), the Cunning Chimeras would not be beat! They finished the night, ruling over The Rec Room Deerfoot once more with 117 points! Thumbs up!

The 71st event of  LONDON ’s Masonville location, with host Justin Gayle (center, thumbs up),  Last Week's Losers (who were in fact last week's winners as Last Week's No Shows), won the night with 105 points against a field that included Our Drinking Team has a Trivia Problem and Trifecta who finished with 78 points each! Last Week's... become just the second team to join Masonville's FIVE TIMERS CLUB with a fifth victory in London! Congrats!

With the 36th event at the South Commons in  EDMONTON  hosted by Ed Childs (not pictured),  Operation You Can't Take Us Anywhere, otherwise known as Titans of Trivia or Owl Be Back, won their SIXTH CHAMPIONSHIP in South Ed, with 103 points on the night! They bested the likes of Mohmeenas who finished in second with 84 points, and Undress a Hoser who finished in third with 82 points!

At  MISSISSAUGA ’s Square One location of The Rec Room with host Jeewan Gill (third left), their 35th event saw the winning team FTR finish with 102 points! The Quizards were runners-up on the night with 78 points!

For the 34th event at the West Edmonton Mall in  EDMONTON  hosted by CTV's Graham Neil (not pictured), Team Know It All knew more then the competition and won with 37 points! They bested Brockley who finish with 30 points in the runner-up spot!

Trivia Club return to The Rec Room Roundhouse for another competitive trio of rounds of Canada’s Greatest Game Show! Would we see a first time Champ on this night or would the rivalry to see who would be The Rec Room’s winningest team, continue on with aplomb?

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with The Questionables in the top spot after our first round. Still looking for their first VHS in 2020, The Questionables had a two-point lead on Cookiefaced, who had been on a tear since as early as September and their Grand Championship Roundhouse Royale win and as recently as their threepeat of wins to begin this year! In third place were the First Timerz, featuring a friend of our St. John’s Trivia Club host, who held a point and a half lead on Bloo Pu$$ycats!

 Game Show Games  then saw Cookiefaced shift into the lead with a TOP TEN point total in Countdown Takedown, while Bloo Pu$$ycats picked up eight points, First Timerz picked up six points, and The Questionables gained four points! Then in Survey Says, The Questionables once again picked up four points, First Timerz nabbed two points, and Cookiefaced once again got that TOP TEN!

 Tri-Pardo  rolls saw The Questionables pick first and roll for eighteen points, while First Timerz went second and rolled five points, while finally the leaders of the field, Cookiefaced chose third and rolled for seventeen points! This meant that forty total points were up for grabs! Cookiefaced, The Questionables, and First Timerz would all hit for the triple and grab those forty points! This meant that Cookiefaced held their ten point lead on The Questionables, and First Timerz were not far behind those Questionables, off by five and a half points!

 Trivia Finale  wagering saw everyone go all in on finale question however, save for Cookiefaced who gave themselves an out if everyone did get the question incorrect by leaving two points on the board! This still meant that Cookiefaced was going to win they would have to get the Finale correct…

That they did! With everyone answering correctly, The Questionables finished as runners-up for the second straight week with 126 points on this night. Winning their SEVENTEENTH GOLDEN VHS… now just one away from matching their friendly rivals… and winner of five of 2020’s seven events so far… COOKIEFACED!

At the 112th event at The Rec Room Roundhouse in  TORONTO  with host and Trivia Club creator Russel Harder (left), the M. Night Shaym-Aliens returned to The Roundhouse to win the night with 117 points for their FOURTH win at The Rec Room and the top score at Trivia Club in the country! Tied in the runner-up spot with the fourth highest score in the country, on this night, were The Questionables and Fajitas, one of Toronto's regulars and a team of newcomers, who finished the night with 90 points. CLICK HERE FOR A FULL RECAP OF THE NIGHT!

With the 17th event this past Wednesday at The Rec Room Avalon in  ST. JOHN'S  with host Russell Cochrane (right, standing), We'd Win More If We Could Cheat won the night with 106 points, and the second highest score in Canada! It was a wonderful crowd in Newfoundland and Labrador, with the top of the other twelve teams, being A&W who finished with 66 points!

The 35th event at the South Commons in  EDMONTON  hosted by Ed Childs (not pictured),  RamRod bested the night with 92 points and the third highest score across Canada! Just two points behind, tied with Toronto's runner-ups with 90 points, were the Hot Shots! In third place in South Edmonton with 74 points were Trudel who finished with what is actually the seventh highest score! Titans of Trivia finished in seventh on the night after a tricky Finale question, which had also knocked out eight teams in St. John's!

It was the 7th event at Deerfoot in  CALGARY  hosted by South Side Trivia's Sammy Jurkowski (not pictured), which must mean that the Cunning Chimeras were competing right? RIGHT! They in fact won their six of the first seven events in Calgary! With 59 points the Cunning Chimeras took the victory, over Wiggums Warriors who finished with 42 points as runners-up on the night!

The 70th event of  LONDON ’s Masonville location, and the location's longest-running host Justin Gayle (center),  Last Week's No Shows returned for the win for 57 points! This was Last Week's FOURTH Championship at Masonville, with the Bad Gyals finishing with 17 points as runners-up!
For the 33rd event at the West Edmonton Mall in  EDMONTON  hosted by CTV's Graham Neil (not pictured), Team Rocket bested Goat with 18 points to their 14 points, as Team No Name finished the night with zero points thanks to the Finale question!

After a week away, Trivia Club returned to The Rec Room Roundhouse to February with a wonderfully unpredictable combination of newcomers, regulars, and returning faces! Amongst all of these teams was the duo of Cookiefaced looking to make it a fourpeat! They would have an uphill battle in the Three10 upper-space, however, as the field had come to compete!

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with M. Night Shaym-Aliens returning for only the second-time since their August 2019 victory, their last one victory here at The Rec Room! It was also the first appearance at Trivia Club for Dylan, who was nursing a busted wing but was wonderful to have out! Just half a point behind the Shaym-Aliens were Cookiefaced however, and our reigning threepeat Champs weren’t just going to stop at winning some sweet prizes to end round one! In third place were The Questionables, one point behind Cookiefaced and looking to regain some Championship shine of their own! In fourth place was They’re #2, followed by Aneta’s Boys & Girls! In sixth were The Feisty Foreigners, just a point back from that Top Five (top five top five), and one point ahead of fellow newcomers Fajitas! Rounding out the field were Magnificent B, followed by (Pauline)!

 Game Show Games  were then written down as we lost teams to the games floor, in and amongst the spread out restaurant space! This meant that Countdown Takedown guesses were blind, but it was a nearly on the nose guess by Cookiefaced that got the team the TOP TEN, followed by eight points for Fajitas! Then in Survey Says, both Cookiefaced and the M. Night Shaym-Aliens grabbed eight points of their own, with Fajitas gaining six points, The Feisty Foreigners four points, and The Questionables guessing correctly for two points!

 Tri-Pardo  guesses meant that, unknown to them at the time, Cookiefaced had gained the lead, with Fajitas not far behind the M. Night Shaym-Aliens, and in fact now in front of The Questionables! Cookiefaced got the first choice at a category and rolled for five points, while The Feisty Foreigners rolled for six points on category number two, and Fajitas rolled for nineteen points on the third category! This meant that thirty points were up for grabs, with the balance of those points tipped towards the third question! Losing nineteen points a piece? The Feisty Foreigners, and taking a big hit to their re-re-re-repeat momentum, Cookiefaced! With a correct answer in the first and third questions for twenty-four points were The Questionables, while Fajitas also gained twenty-four points but lost six on the second question to become tied with The Questionables! Hitting for the triple and strengthening their lead on the field were the M. Night Shaym-Aliens, keeping thirteen and a half point ahead of the two teams in second before the Finale!

 Trivia Finale  wagering some every team go all-in, and in the case of The Feisty Foreigners and Cookiefaced, go more then all-in! Luckily it worked out for them, but in fact… it worked out for everyone! That meant that the win streak for Cookiefaced ended at a milestone threepeat with their fourth place finish! Runners-up on the night were two teams tied for second, both with 90 points a piece… The Questionables and Fajitas!

With 117 points, winning their FOURTH GOLDEN VHS at The Rec Room… and THIRTY-SEVENTH ALL-TIME… the M. NIGHT SHAYM-ALIENS! With a team that consisted of the O.G. Shaym-Alien boys, including a returning Dylan, the Shaym-Aliens showed why they've been known as Trivia Club’s house team, a team at home at any Trivia Club location!

Congrats to the Shaym-Aliens once more, and thank you to everyone who came out to compete at The Rec Room Roundhouse! The TOP FIVE SCORES for Trivia Club at The Rec Room for the week of February 18th, 2020 breakdown as follows:

On the 17th event this past Wednesday at The Rec Room Avalon in  ST. JOHN'S  with host Russell Cochrane (left, face on shirt), returning Champs Ready, Set, Terrible finished in third place with 90 points against a super competitive field with The (one time) Champs finishing in fourth with 52 points, but The Winettes won the night with 103 points, and the runners-up Wreck 'Em Roomies finished with 92 points! This meant that St. John's top three teams were all the top three highest scoring teams in Canada!

For the 69th edition (nice) of  LONDON ’s Masonville location, and host Justin Gayle (center), Team Hang won the night with 80 points, the fourth highest score across Canada! Runners-up on the night were Bob's Beasties with 30 points, while regulars Trifecta were among those who were left pointless after a tricky Finale question! Justin Gayle also matches Kevin Avram's 26 event run at Masonville, with next week giving Justin the most Trivia Club events hosted outside of Toronto!
At the 32nd event at the West Edmonton Mall in  EDMONTON  hosted by CTV's Graham Neil (not pictured), Team Sask brought a Championship back to The Land of the Living Sky with 66 points on the night, edging out the competition for the fifth highest score Across Canada! Finishing as runners-up on the night with 64 points were The Rec Gloom!
For the 6th event at Deerfoot in  CALGARY  hosted by South Side Trivia's Sammy Jurkowski (not pictured), the Cunning Chimeras won once again at our Calgary location with 61 points as Jomo wagered it all on the Finale question but were left pointless!

Also outside of the Top Five at the 34th event at the South Commons in  EDMONTON  hosted by Ed Childs (not pictured), Titans of Trivia returned once again but were left pointless on the Finale, while it was another two point photo finish between the winner and the runner-up on the night. Runners-up in South Ed were Cosmic Love with 34 points, while the winners for the evening with 36 points were TNT!

On the 11th for the 111th event at The Rec Room Roundhouse in  TORONTO  with host and Trivia Club creator Russel Harder (left, gold star), Cookefaced won their SIXTEENTH Golden VHS in Toronto making them just the sixth team in Toronto to THREEPEAT in almost 800 events across the city! Cookiefaced finished with 137, good for the top score in Canada for the third week in a row as well! Runners-up on the night tied for the second highest score across the country were Dice Hard with 104 points!  CLICK HERE FOR A FULL RECAP OF THE NIGHT!

For the 5th event at Deerfoot in  CALGARY  hosted by South Side Trivia's Sammy Jurkowski (not pictured), the Cunning Chimeras repeated as Champs with 104 points, which is tied for second-highest Across Canada, holding off stiff competition from Urethra Franklin who finished with 75 points!

In the fourth and fifth spot in the Canada-wide Top Five rankings for the 33rd event at the South Commons in  EDMONTON  hosted by Ed Childs (not pictured), Titans of Trivia returned as Champs with 103 points on the night, finishing ahead of runners-up Chicken Titties with 92 points! Titans of Trivia, otherwise known as Owl Be Back, also become Alberta's first FIVE TIMERS CLUB member at The Rec Room, joining a select group of teams outside of Toronto!

For Wednesday's 15th event at The Rec Room Avalon in  ST. JOHN'S  with host Russell Cochrane (right), it was a competitive crew that braved the weather, with the night being won by Ready, Set, Terrible with 37 points by the slightest of margins over Rage Against the Tangerine who finished with 36 points!

The 34th event at  MISSISSAUGA ’s Square One location of The Rec Room with guest host Clif Knight (left) saw the winning team the Poison Darts finish the night with 36 points!

The 30th event at the West Edmonton Mall in  EDMONTON  hosted by CTV's Graham Neil (not pictured), was a stand-off between Canstandrea and Tarward, with Canstandrea winning on the night with 31 points!

We can't forget  LONDON ’s Masonville location, and host Justin Gayle (center left, thumbs up), whose 67th event saw the return of Last Week after a week away, but ultimately a cagey wager from Bennies Baby winning the night with a 2 point finish for the Champs!

To end what has been a huge three-day span for Trivia Club, Canada’s Greatest Game Show returned to The Rec Room Roundhouse for the 111th edition of Trivia Club on the 11th day of February, 2020! To go along with that triple one as well, Cookiefaced were going for a threepeat, but would have not one, not two, but four former Champions to compete against in the field assembled! Who would win the night at The Rec Room in Toronto? History would be made, at what is now Trivia Club’s longest running current location!

 Trivia Classic  came to an end in the Three10 restaurant, with Cookiefaced holding a three-and-a-half-point lead on the nearest competition, the returning Three Murderinos! Making their third appearance at The Rec Room, the Murderinos had a point and a half advantage on Dice Hard! Just a half point back in fourth were The Questionables, the only team at The Rec Room to have threepeated before when they in fact went for the fourpeat in the early summer of 2019! Two points behind in fifth to round out the Top Five (top five top five) were These Pencils Are Too Short for Stabbing, also known as Dead on the Inside! Admittedly we had shifted over from pens this past week to the golf pencils used on Oscar night! In sixth place were Table 4 Two, and the couple of newcomers had a point and a half lead of their own on former champions, and the only other Golden VHS winners in 2020 at The Rec Room other then Cookiefaced so far, Kyle & Friends!

 Game Show Games  began as it traditionally does with Countdown Takedown, with enough momentum and layout to have answers happen aloud! Cookiefaced won the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, while These Pencils Are Too Short for Stabbing nabbed eight points, as did Three Murderinos, and Table 4 Two were also able to keep from going over for six points! Then in Survey Says it was Dice Hard who grabbed the TOP TEN, while Three Murderinos grabbed another eight, The Questionables picked up six, and Kyle & Friends grabbed two points! It was a second round that saw not only everyone get on the board, but also the Three Murderinos took the lead from Cookiefaced, when they were the only team to get big points in both games!

 Tri-Pardo  then began with Table 4 Two rolling ten points for the first category, These Pencils Are Too Short for Stabbing rolling eleven points on the 111th event on the 11th day of February for the second category, and Three Murderinos rolling fifteen points on the third category! This meant that thirty-six points were up for grabs on the night in round three! Hitting for the triple were Cookiefaced AND the Three Murderinos, but also The Questionables, Kyle & Friends, and Die Hard… while Table 4 Two picked up twenty-six points from the second and third questions, and These Pencils Are Too Short grabbing twenty-five points from the first and third questions! This meant that though the field remained tight, Cookiefaced remained two and a half points away from a threepeat on this night!

 Trivia Finale  wagering would not make it any easier, as the blind wager from the top two teams was all in, while Dead on the Inside’s These Pencils wagered thirty and Dice Hard kept twenty-three points on the board! Ultimately it would take both the correct answer and a little bit of luck for the threepeat to finally come Cookiefaced’s way after so many close calls over the last year and a half!

Only two teams would answer the Finale correctly on the night, and one of them would be Cookiefaced… while the other one… was not the Murderinos! It was in fact Dice Hard who answered it correctly and finished as runners-up with 104 points! This meant that winning on the night and winning their SIXTEENTH GOLDEN VHS with 137 points… becoming just the SIXTH TEAM to THREEPEAT, something to have only happened seven times at Trivia Club (and three other times in February) on the 1 1 1… COOKIEFACED!

Congratulations to Cookiefaced, who bounced back from a less successful Oscar Trivia night on Sunday, to win the night on our regular Tuesday live event at The Roundhouse! Thank you to everyone who came out to compete this past Tuesday, we will be back in TWO WEEKS on February 28th! We will also be bringing the fourth annual TRIVIAL AWARDS to Farside on March 4th, with full details to come shortly!

It was a wonderful night of Oscar Trivia in our Red Carpet Trivia pre-show which brought together a wide selection of teams to compete for a $50 gift card to The Rec Room, followed by a night of viewing the 92nd Academy Awards in The Hall at The Roundhouse! Throughout the night we played Bingo, brought those in attendance Game Show Games during commercials, and saw who might win a $100 gift card with the right kind of Oscar picks by the end of the night! Trivia Club was even featured on CP24, with your host Russel Harder being interviewed at 7PM before festivities began!

Red Carpet Oscar Trivia concluded with a 19 to 19 tie between our top two teams, in a field that included appearance from 2 Fast 2 Glamorous, Cookiefaced, and The Questionables! It would be a stand-off however, between Think Of Something Clever, regulars on our Oscar nights, and the eventual tie-breaking winners and now THREE-TIME OSCAR TRIVIA CHAMPS… It’s Not What Joon-Ho, Pitt’s What Pugh Dern Along Renee! This collection of Matt, SK, and Rob were back for a third consecutive win and with a new and able fourth team member to take home the Oscar night Golden VHS of It’s Mary Kate and Ashley’s Fashion Party! Thanks to the tie however, both teams would get $50 gift cards!

A wide selection of teams would then gain sweet sweet prizes throughout the night for Oscar Bingos and Game Show Game answers, with 2 Fast 2 Glamorous taking home the most candy through guesses that were the Closest Without Going Over!

Finally for The Rec Room Roundhouse’s Oscar Ballot Picks, we had another tie! This time the Oscar winnings continued for Matthew Smith of It’s Not What Joon-Ho, Pitt’s What Pugh Dern Along Renee! Matt was joined in the winners circle on the final award of the night, with a Parasite win it was also a win for Heather Smith of The Questionables! Both chose 19 correct winners on their ballot and walk away with winners gift cards as well!

Matt would also go on to finish as runner-up in the wider Oscar Confidence Pool, with 244 points off of his 19 correct picks. Winning Trivia Club’s 2019/2020 Oscar Confidence Pool was Mark Piggott of the Cunning Stunts with 21 correct picks for 258 points! This is the second consecutive win for Mark, and fourth overall! Both Mark and Matt went three for three in the Shorts categories, while also losing points in Best Director and Best Picture for picking 1917… but ultimately we were pleasantly surprised by Parasite.
