After the first round of  Trivia Classic , it was I Wanna Know What The Fidget Spinner Game Is All About with the lead on the field! On that note as well, the Fidget Spinner game seems to have a game show wheel slash test of strength appeal to it, with a pretty decent chance for a lot of points. In second place after round one was Wee Da Best, but close behind were Mariam's Minions!  Tri-Pardo  then saw thirty-nine points on the line, with Wee Da Best and our Fidget Spinner Game team each gaining twenty-five points, while Moist (we're taking it back) gained seven points, and Mariam's Minions grabbed eleven! This led to an all or nothing  Finale  for all teams, save for Wee Da Best who only put 10 points on the line... and they finished as runners-up when all other teams couldn't lock in the Finale save for one.

That one team? The team that was three points ahead of Wee Da Best after the first round! Yes, holding on the GOLDEN VHS CHAMPIONSHIP... the aptly named I WANNA KNOW WHAT THE FIDGET SPINNER GAME IS ALL ABOUT!

We made the most of an unpredictable night at Farside, this past Wednesday, as the first week of June saw Shelby of the M. Night Shaym-Aliens going for an especially rare personal threepeat! The competition would have something to say about that, while microphone difficulties and the good folks from Lady Marmalade joined us at Chinatown East's friendly neighbourhood watering home, for a game show party!

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with, amid the party and projection, with the M. Night Shaym-Aliens holding the lead! In second place just a few points behind was Matt of the Electric Bastards, et al, and another familiar face, who was also part of the Oscar night Champions earlier this year at The Rec Room, as The Popular Slut Club! They had a half a point lead on The Man with the Candy, who were in fact also part of the Lady Marmalade staff party! In fourth place were the magic card-carrying newcomers Team Team! The Marmaladies and Lads were in fifth, while newcomers at the couch Zangief were in sixth! Rounding out the field were Uber RN, followed by The Team Formerly Known as Prince, but also know as one of the good folks at Good Cheese!

 Game Show Games  then saw the M. Night Shaym-Aliens grab the first TOP TEN of round two, while the Popular Slut Club nabbed eight points! With no one getting the TOP TEN in Survey Says it was the Shaym-Aliens growing their lead with eight points, while Zangief grabbed six points! As the 'Side was still mic free, we decided to forgo the Combo and jump into round three!

 Tri-Pardo  then saw Team Team roll for nineteen for the first question, the M. Night Shaym-Aliens rolled for seven points for the second question, and finally The Man with the Candy rolled for another nineteen points for the third question! The Man with the Candy would take a big swing with the second and third questions and lose twenty-six points as a result, falling out of contention! Meanwhile Team Team added twelve points, after gaining nineteen with the first question but losing seven points on the second question. The M. Night Shaym-Aliens had the same result, also for twelve points, but they kept the lead as The Popular Slut Club gained nineteen but then lost that nineteen with the third question which was as close as it could possibly be! This led to a Finale in which All teams were going all-in, and thus the M. Night Shaym-Aliens simply needed to get that last question correct to ensure their win on a wild and crazy night!

The question was theire's to answer correctly, as Zangief did some catching up to finish in third after a correct answer in the  Finale  category that they had chosen, and Matt and friend as the Popular Slut Club finished as runners-up with eighty points, but with their TWENTY-NINTH GOLDEN VHS CHAMPIONSHIP... the winners on the night were the M. NIGHT SHAYM-ALIENS! With one-hundred and thirty-two points not only was this one win closer to thirty for the crew, but it continued a personal THREEPEAT for Shelby of the Shaym-Aliens, who over the last three events at Farside  has won all three times with a total of five different teammates, a different selection of wonderful Shaym-Aliens every time! Dylan may be the Shaym-Aliens captain, but folks I think Shelby can be called the Shaym-Ali-Ace! Only Mark P. of the Cunning Stunts has won more times in a row, outside of teams, with four VHS wins in a row, while Matthew Smith was indeed the constant for the Electric Mayhem threepeat in 2016!

On the first week of June, Trivia Club's short yet exciting run at Gin Mill has come to a close! Indeed this is the last event for Toronto's Greatest Game Show at the former home of The Yellow Griffin! Before things wrapped up however, Anthony Couto became second most hostingest host of Trivia Club with this third occasion! We were more then happy to have Anthony as part of the Trivia Club family! It was an honour to have another person put their spin on the familiar format, and we really do hope we find Anthony the best possible location in the near future to continue hosting Trivia Club!

On this the final night of our first licensed Trivia Club, it was THE FREELANCERS who won the GOLDEN VHS CHAMPIONSHIP! It was fitting to have Lt. Dance alumni return once again to Gin Mill and win a Championship from their compatriot! They won the night with fifty points, over a pair of runners-up in Chewbacca and The Return of Melania, who both finished with zero points.

Congrats once again to The Freelancers, and thank you again to everyone who came out to take part in Trivia Club this past Wednesday, and at every one of the three events at Gin Mill! Though Trivia Club will not be holding trivia events at Gin Mill any longer, we look forward to expanding the universe of Trivia Club into new locations with new hosts! On the return to The Rec Room, we brought you Trivia Club to the Three10 restaurant in the Roundhouse! Who would take home their first Golden VHS? Yes, in thirty-three events we would see our twenty-eighth Champions on the biggest stage for trivia in Toronto!

 Trivia Classic  ended with Club Caribbean taking the lead with a stronger Trivia Royale, while the runners-up after the first were Pugad! Yes, continuing our international prize winners in the first round, Pugad is Filipino for 'nest' (and now you know!), with a member of the team even visiting from Manila! Pugad had a one point lead on the next two teams, as Gray & Co Team, and Dream Team, were both tied with thirteen points! In  Tri-Pardo , our second round, Gray & Co Team rolled for twelve points and then won that twelve points but lost thirty-seven on the other two questions! Pugad rolled for TWENTY, and won twenty along with another twelve points for a thirty-two point push! Dream Team rolled for seventeen in the third question in Tri-Pardo, but lost that seventeen points with a clooooose guess, and lost another twenty points for a total thirty-seven point loss that saw them fall to fourth! Remaining in first after two round were Club Caribbean, who like Pugad had gained thirty-two points in the second, and remained five points ahead in the lead.

 Trivia Finale  wagering would mean a whole lot, as every team would answer the final question correctly... and while Pugad went all-in, and Dream Team and Gray & Co Team wagered all they could... Club Caribbean played it safe, maybe a little too safe and self-assured, and only wagered twenty points! This meant that Club Caribbean finished as runners-up on the night! While finishing in first...

Bringing the GOLDEN VHS CHAMPIONSHIP back to Manila... PUGAD! Yes indeed, congrats to Pugad once again for the last question push for victory, well played indeed.

ANNOTATIONS for the MAY 2018 SCOREBOARD

• It's the fifth month of 2018, and the fifth consecutive appearance on the Monthly Scoreboard for the Fighting Mongooses! 
• The top score for May 2018, and a rare 200 point night for Trivia Club which happened on May 14th, belongs to the Fighting Mongooses! Also the top score at Hitch for May, the Fighting Mongooses also top the Scoreboard for the very first time! A fitting follow-up to their Grand Championship winning April, I would say! 
• The top score at The Ace for May 2018 goes to Sylvia from Marketing, who notched the new high score mark at our newest home in the 'hood of Roncy! 
• Sylvia from Marketing tied with Wookiee Dough for the second highest score of the month, and Wookiee Dough also hold the honour of the highest score by a team that did not win the Golden VHS on the night! They, along with The Man with the Candy who scored just seven fewer points (and along with The Fighting Mongooses, made multiple appearances on the list), all put up Top Ten scores for May 2018 on May 14th, making it the most represented night of the month. 
• The week of the 14th also saw My Fart Will Go On put on the highest score for Farside, two days later on May 16th! My Fart Will Go On are not only M. Night Shaym-Alien alumni but also the continuation of Fart School Confidential, also the fourth highest score of last month! 
• The highest score of May 2018 at The Rec Room edition of Trivia Club, and tied for tenth highest score of the month, belongs to family team Kazamba who scored 108 points on May 15th! 
• For the first time since August 2017, we have a rare Top Ten which features ELEVEN teams, thanks to a late in the month Golden VHS winning 108 points by #sorrynotsorry at Hitch on May 28th! 
• The seventh and eighth highest scores of May 2018 happened at an event of Trivia Club not hosted or produced by Russel Harder! We saw the debut of our first licensed location in May! 
• The top score at Gin Mill, hosted by Anthony, for May 2018 belongs to Drug Ford who put up 155 points on the inaugural night of Trivia Club at Gin Mill on May 23rd! 
• With an eleven team Scoreboard, six of the Top High Scores belong to teams competing at Hitch in May! Two of the scores are teams competing at Gin Mill, while Farside, The Ace, and The Rec Room all have one, meaning that all five Trivia Club locations are represented! 
• As noted at the top, the Fighting Mongooses are the only team to be making a return appearance on the Monthly Scoreboard, making them five for five in 2018. 
• The Simple Minds finished with the twelfth highest score of the month, with their 105 points on May 16th in their first Farside appearance, keeping them juuuuust off of the board for the first time in their competition at Trivia Club and breaking a two month long streak for the team! 
• The Mean Team for May, the team with the high score closest to the scoreboard average, is... My Fart Will Go On!
