For the second edition of Trivia Club at Hitch in 2020, we returned to our longest-running location, and had a competitive night of Canada’s Greatest Game Show amongst our legacy teams! Would it be the Mongooses edging ever closer to the Trusty Rumpets all-time mark, would The Sinking Ship return to the winners circle, or would the Good Folks grab their first win of the year?

 Trivia Classic  came to a close with The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes with a three point lead on the new Mongoose order, while The Sinking Ship was nine and a half points off the lead! In our second round of  Game Show Games , The Good Folks would grab the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, while Mongoose took eight points and The Sinking Ship nabbed six! In Survey Says the tables flipped and gave The Sinking Ship the TOP TEN while nMo picked up another eight points, and The Good Folks grabbed four points! This meant that new Mongoose order had moved within one point of The Good Folks from Laramie… but we still had another round to go!

 Tri-Pardo  questions were rolled on the lower side this night, with the first category being locked in for four points by new Mongoose order, the second question for six points by The Sinking Ship, and the third category for ten points by Laramie! Twenty total points was something near an all-time low for the 20-sided die form of the round! This meant that the close field would be kept ever closer, and hitting for the triple would be new Mongoose order who grabbed all twenty points, while picking up fourteen points and moving into second place before the Finale were The Sinking Ship! In third place after picking up four points were The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes!

 Trivia Finale  wagering saw The Good Folks go all-in however, looking to regain the lead that they had held for the first half of the night! The Sinking Ship left half a point behind while the Fighting Mongooses left six points on the board. When the dust settled on the answer…

The FIGHTING MONGOOSES or new Mongoose order, had won their TWENTY-SIXTH GOLDEN VHS, and twenty-third at Hitch, which is now just one behind the Trusty Rumpets for the all-time Hitch number of twenty-four wins! The new Mongoose order finished with 126 points. Runners-up on the night were The Sinking Ship with 106.5 points, while the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes finished with 102 points.

Congrats to the new (new new) Mongoose order, and thank you to all the teams who came out to compete at Hitch this past Monday! There honestly wouldn't be Trivia Club at Hitch without the Fighting Mongooses, or The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes either! Thank you to them, and to everyone who has come out to Trivia Club on Monday at Hitch these last six and a half years.

The FINALE WORD at HITCH, our final event at 1216 Queen St E as Hitch, will be in TWO WEEKS on February 10th! It will be a night of celebration for the legacy of those teams that have made Trivia Club on the east-end of Toronto what it is, and for the legacy of Hitch to Trivia Club!
