Trivia Classic saw the Fighting Mongooses in first place after round one, putting them in the cat bird seat at their home location and a step closer to the second ever Threepeat at Hitch! Just one point behind them however were 2 Folks 2 Mongooses, otherwise known as Smartly Pretty, who on the night were paying homage to their fellow long-running competition in the most MAD Magazine way possible! Six and a half points off the lead were the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes, while rounding out the field of five in a tie, were 2 Fast 2 Curious who were making their debut at Hitch on their 105th appearance at Trivia Club, and making their debut at Trivia Club, Team Slytherin (though in actuality they were a Ravenclaw and... Hufflepuff?), both of whom were nine points off of third!
Game Show Games began with an impressive Box Office Bullseye in which every team picked up points, with five points each going to 2 Fast 2 Curious and 2 Folks 2 Mongooses! Survey Says saw the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes grab the TOP TEN, while both 2 Fast 2 Curious and the Fighting Mongooses were left pointless! This meant that going into Countdown Takedown that 2 Folks 2 Mongooses had opened up a lead on the Fighting Mongooses and that the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes weren't far behind either after having surpassed the Mongooses! 2 Fast 2 Curious would be the team that picked up the TOP TEN however, bringing them two points closer to the lead, as the Good Folks from Laramie grabbed eight points and the lead from 2 Folks 2 Mongooses who were left pointless along the Fighting Mongooses, who themselves did not have the best second round!
Tri-Pardo as noted had the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes in the lead by one and a half points, but they would not hold the lead for long! Fifty-one points were on the line in round three, after Team Slytherin rolled a NAT TWENTY for the first category, the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes followed that up with a twelve point roll, and 2 Folks 2 Mongooses rolled nineteen points for the third question! No team would answer all three correctly, but the Fighting Mongooses would get the first question correctly before answering the second question incorrectly and grab eight net points! 2 Folks 2 Mongooses would get the second and third questions correct for thirty-one points which would regain them the lead heading into the Finale, while grabbing the most points in round three were 2 Fast 2 Curious who would get thirty-nine points from the first and third questions! Ultimately it was a four and a half gap heading into the last question of the night between first and second!
Within the Trivia Finale , so early into the Grand Championship Grand Prix, the two teams that were all-in were 2 Fast 2 Curious and 2 Folks 2 Mongooses, not to mention Team Slytherin! The reigning Grand Champs the Fighting Mongooses left ten points on the board, but they would have to have everything go juuuust right if they were to win a third consecutive Golden VHS at Hitch because after blanking on the Tri-Pardo round, the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes uncharacteristically decided to keep it all! Ultimately this was a non-point for them however... as the Finale was one that all teams felt confident with! Finishing the night in third, bolstered by the Good Folks non-wager were The Fighting Mongooses! The runners-up on the night with a Sesquicentennial Mark on their Hitch debut, that would tie them for fourth most 150+ point nights all-time, but not a win... 2 Fast 2 Curious! This meant that adding to their lead for the Golden VCR as well as winning their NINTH GOLDEN VHS... adding to their already impressive record as a duo... Smartly Pretty themselves, 2 FOLKS 2 MONGOOSES! Their 162 points not only gave them a nine point victory but also some excellent stats in fifteen events!
Congrats to Matt & Pat, 2 Folks 2 Mongooses on this night, and thank you to everyone who came out to Hitch this past Monday and made it such an entertaining night of Trivia Club for our second leg of the Grand Championship Grand Prix!

NEXT WEEK we turn the corner in this Chase for the Golden VCR with the third night of Grand Championship goodness at The Rec Room Roundhouse for the first time in 2019 on TUESDAY April 16th, followed by our return to Farside for the second half of Grand Prix goodness for beginning of the final stretch on WEDNESDAY April 17th! We return to Hitch in THREE WEEKS, after a slight Easter Monday break, for the GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP FINALE at Hitch on MONDAY April 29th!
