T hreepeats don't happen at Trivia Club. They have happened, don't get me wrong, but it took nearly three years for the Cunning Stunts to storm Lou Dawgs and be the first to accomplish this feat. A full year passed before the Electric Mayhem became the first team to threepeat at Cardinal Rule, and the second all-time. Still, another year had passed and though some teams repeated as Champions... none could threepeat, and none had been able to do so at Hitch.

Hitch with it's bi-weekly schedule made it difficult to truly round into momentum... over eighty-five events only one team had even repeated as Golden VHS Champs, and the Trusty Rumpets had done it five times... but they had never threepeated. Still, they were in the house on Monday night, as were Wookiee of the Year, and as were a Teeny Tiny Tim team to see if they could stop the unanticipated but Phenomenal Pholks phrom Laramie Cigarettes from winning their third Golden VHS in a row at our East-End location!

After Trivia Classic, the Good Folks from Laramie had grabbed the lead but only by one and a half points on the Trusty Rumpets! Four and a half points back from the lead, Wookiee of the Year were also very much still in the fight and ultimately Teeny Tiny Tim in fourth still had only a point and a half between themselves and the Wookiee!

Game Show Games, with the tight field, only added to the unpredictability, with the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes grabbing the first TOP TEN of the round with the closest guess, while the Trusty Rumpets took the TOP TEN in Survey Says. Wookiee of the Year nabbed eight points, and the Good Folks guessing good enough for four points in our second Game Show Game! Heading into C-C-Combo Breakdown, the Trusty Rumpets had picked up the lead... but the night was far from over, especially when the final two teams remaining with the Combo on the line were Wookiee of the Year and the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes... and it was WOOKIEE who took the game as last team standing for a full FIFTEEN POINTS!

This meant, heading into the third and final round it was Wookiee of the Year with the lead in Tri-Pardo, while the Rumpets were in a sliiight second place over the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes! Yes, the Good Folks were going to need the same luck and knowledge that had helped them, especially in the third round, to win their last two Golden VHS and cement a threepeat! The Trusty Rumpets and Wookiee of the Year both got the first Tri-Pardo question correct, which nabbed them 10 points, while the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes went for all three questions... and in getting the third question incorrect, lost nine points, but still gained twenty-one points in spite of the trip-up! This meant that before the Finale, they had climbed BACK INTO FIRST, just as they had two weeks before against Scorpion Soup!

With their competition going all in, the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes did actually leave some points on the board... but not too much as to lose the night, as long as they could answer the Finale question correctly...

Their first Golden VHS came on February 6th, 2017... and it helped them join the Five Timers Club! Though the points weren't many that night, the gamesmanship was in full effect. Seven points was all they needed.

Their second Golden VHS came on February 20th, 2017. A good sign, as the only two other teams to threepeat also had won most if not all of their Golden VHS Champions in February in 2015 and 2016. Twas the season.

Now SEVEN-TIME GOLDEN VHS winners and only the third team to ever THREEPEAT as Champion at a Trivia Club live event... THE GOOD FOLKS FROM LARAMIE CIGARETTES! Winning by those five and a half points that they left on the table. And like that, a wildly allusive Achievement has finally been unlocked at Hitch!

Congrats, one more time to Laramie Cigarettes! Couldn't have been accomplished by a nicer guy, or cooler people! We're lucky like that, at Trivia Club, with such an excellent community of participants! Thank you of course to all of you who came out to compete at our East End location! Join us in TWO WEEKS on March 20th for the next edition at Hitch, sponsored by the upcoming Ghost in the Shell film!
