C ardinal Rule's four teams for November returned, fresh off the record setting All Saints spectacular on this the magnificent seventh Trivia Club remaining at our Original Home! Last Place Team, the Cunning Stunts, Trivial Knowledge, and the EM Night Shaym-Aliens were joined by newcomers on CR#239, Chillasaurus! Sponsored on the night by Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, it was a great atmosphere for a chill night, and for the second straight night... the fight to the finish was certainly Of Note!

It was Last Place Team with the lead after the first round of  Trivia Classic , the ever ironically named Team were making there 41st consecutive appearance on the night, which is all the more impressive (and from our end, appreciated) when you note that only Team Name at Cardinal Rule and The Bastards at Lou Dawgs have made more the 20 consecutive appearances at a single location. PETE! with his solo ventures and teaming with The Bastards interchangeably is the only person to have possibly made more consecutive appearances. A single point off the lead were the EM Night Shaym-Aliens, one this night with 100% more Em! Half a point behind these evenly matched competitors were an all new six piece group known as Chillasaurus! Two points behind them in fourth were Trivial Knowledge, back from Europe and back at full strength! In fifth were a Vart mix of Cunning Stunts, two and a half points away from Trivial Knowledge!

Game Show Games  then began round two with an unconventional twist in Countdown Takedown that saw all five teams over shoot the number we were looking for, a first for the current format and thus... no points were awarded! EM Night Shaym-Aliens then grabbed the TOP TEN in Survey Says to turn things back their way, with Chillasaurus grabbing eight points, Trivial Knowledge taking six points, and the Cunning Stunts nabbing four points of their own! Last Place Team were thus left as the only team without points for the second consecutive game! Still, in Combo Breakdown they would prove one of the last two teams left standing... but would finish the final game with five points, as the EM Night Shaym-Aliens would take the victory for themselves for SIXTEEN POINTS!

This brought the Shaym-Aliens into the lead, heading into  Tri-Pardo ! Chillasaurus would roll to make the first question worth nine points, while the Cunning Stunts would roll to make the second question seventeen points, before Em of the Shaym-Aliens would roll the third question to make it TWENTY points! This meant that the third round would be an ever so slightly above average forty-six points on the line!

Chillasaurus would get the second question correct for seventeen points, as would the Cunning Stunts and Trivial Knowledge who would also get the first question for twenty-six points each. It would be the EM Night Shaym-Aliens and Last Place Team however who would both hit for the TRIPLE and separate themselves form the other three teams! Historically these two teams have proved pretty even at Cardinal Rule and this night would prove no different, though the Shaym-Aliens now held a twenty-point lead after their Game Show Games, and looked to follow-up their 213 points from the week before with another big take away!

All the best laid plans though sometimes can't account for that classic Peter Parker Luck though sometimes! The Shaym-Aliens would go all in the on the Finale question, a question that would be asked for the first time on the week, and also going all in would be the Cunning Stunts and Trivial Knowledge. Leaving one point on the table were Last Place Team, while leaving one and a half points on the table were Chillasaurus (the half point coming from a Trivia Royale reference to Terminator, you see)...

Rarely does that half a point matter that much, but when you have it... it's just nice not to wager it. I mean, it's only half a point anyway.

Only three times has a team won by half a point, and twice at Cardinal Rule. The first time was at our third-ever event in 2012 and the second was during the Summer of Mayhem in 2014, when Team Name stopped a potentially Electric fourpeat.

Tonight... was one of those nights.

It was a stumper of a Finale, with the Shaym-Aliens unable to lock down that 186 point finish, while Last Place Team would finish as runners-up on the night by literally the slimmest of margins.

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: WOOOOAH A HALF-POINT THERE!

Yes, one point to one and a HALF points, and winning their FIRST GOLDEN VHS Championship... CHILLASAURUS! It's a stellar example that along with the knowledge and gamesmanship, is the luck inherent in Trivia Club that makes it anyones game until the very end! Sometimes in the most expected ways.
