The Grand Finale of the SIXTH annual Hitchens Cup took place this past Monday, with not only each of the four teams from two weeks prior returning, but also two new teams entering the fray for the 155th edition of Trivia Club at our long-running Black Label location of Hitch! They would have some catching up to do however! The Fighting Mongooses were in the lead with 184 points, but the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes had 154 points, and C is for Wookiee had 151 points, followed by the M. Night Shaym-Aliens with 63 points! Both that score and this night’s final score would be combined in aggregate with the highest score winning the Johnny Walker Black Label-filled Cup!

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with the Fighting Mongooses in the lead with 38 points and with the M. Night Shaym-Aliens with a classic four person team joining Dylan, six and a half points behind! One and a half behind the Shaym-Aliens were C is for Wookiee! Wookiee had a two and a half point advantage on Chastrean! who were a Voltron-edition of The Sinking Ship, you could say! One point behind Chastrean! was The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes! Rounding out the field was another new team annie in heels!

 Game Show Games  then saw the M. Night Shaym-Aliens grab the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, while annie in heels nabbed eight points, and Chastrean! picked up six points! Then in Survey Says, The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes found the TOP TEN, while annie in heels got another eight points, the Fighting Mongooses picked up six points, and the M. Night Shaym-Aliens notched four points!

 Tri-Pardo  then had the M. Night Shaym-Aliens choose the first category and roll for ten points, while the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes chose the second category and rolled for another ten points, before Chastrean! chose the third category and rolled for nine points! This meant that twenty-nine points were on the line… and it would also mean that the new teams involved in the Hitchens Cup could still win the Golden VHS on the night, but they had been mathematically locked away from the Cup!

 Trivia Finale  wagering had most teams go all in, save for the half point set aside by Chastrean!, the ten points wagered by annie in heels, and the fifty points wagered by Fighting Mongooses! Having slipped behind both the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes and the M. Night Shaym-Aliens before the last question, winning the threepeat on this night would prove tough for the Mongooses… but with the Finale half the team would answer incorrectly!

Those three teams would be Chastrean!, annie in heels, and C is for Wookiee however! This would meant that C is for Wookiee would finish fourth overall across all of September and fourth on the night with a combined 151 points after going pointless on this past Monday! Finishing in third on the night would be the Fighting Mongooses! The runner-up on the night would be the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes!

This meant that yes, winning their THIRTY-FIFTH GOLDEN VHS and eighth at Hitch which ties them with Smartly Pretty and Five Neat Guys for fifth all-time… with 149 points on the night… were the M. NIGHT SHAYM-ALIENS! The Shaym-Aliens finished the Chase for the Hitchens Cup VI with 212 combined points, giving them enough points for third.

The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes – A Few VHSes More, would be both the runner-up on the night and for the month, after another strong night that would give them 285 points overall across September! This would be the third year in a row that The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes would finish in the runner-up spot for the Hitchens Cup, as well, having been oh so close against the Shaym-Aliens in 2017 and Smartly Pretty in 2018!
