With 2018 coming to an end, December 10th saw the 138th edition of Trivia Club at Hitch, the final edition of the Greatest Game Show in Ontario at our long-running Black Label location! We were surrounded by the very best of competition at Hitch as well, from those who had become the trivia team of 2018, to those who had established the high water mark at Hitch but hadn’t settled in for a little more until now!

 Trivia Classic  of this A Very Trivia Club X-Mas had the Festive Mongooses in the lead, with a seven and a half point lead on Happy Life Day from Wookiee of the Year! Good Tidings we bring to you and your kin, from Laramie Cigarettes, were just one point behind Happy Life Day! One point behind Good Tidings were the all-time high scoring team at Hitch, the returning West Virginia Losers Club! The Sinking Ship rounded out the Top Five (top five, top five), making their seventh appearance!

 Game Show Games  began with the Festive Mongooses grabbing the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, while West Virginia Losers Club picked up eight points! The only team left pointless were the defending Golden VHS winners, Happy Life Day from by Wookiee of the Year, behind the bar! Happy Life Day followed that duck with the TOP TEN in Survey Says however, while Good Tidings from Laramie Cigarettes were left pointless in our second Game Show! Though the Festive Mongooses still held the lead, it would certainly be tested with Combo Breakdown… and it proved so tricky that it would indeed be Happy Life Day from Wookiee of the Year as the last team standing for THIRTEEN POINTS, and lead for the Wookiee!

 Tri-Pardo  began with a slight lead for Happy Life Day now, and Happy Life Day would roll the first category for thirteen points, while the Festive Mongooses rolled the second category for sixteen points, and finally Good Tidings we bring to you and your kin, from Laramie Cigarettes rolled the third category for eighteen points! This meant that forty-seven points were up for grabs! Laramie Cigarettes would go ahead and hit for the triple for forty-seven points! Laramie would gain the number two spot before the Finale as well, as Happy Life Day would lose some of their lead but hold onto momentum with thirty-four points in round three! Gaining the first and third questions correct but losing points on the second, the Festive Mongooses would gain fifteen points in Tri-Pardo and fall to third place, with the West Virginia Losers Club now all the closer behind!

This led to a wildly unpredictable finish to the night with the  Trivia Finale , as The Sinking Ship chose the last category, and the standings were swapped around like presents at an office holiday party! Finishing in fifth were Happy Life Day from Wookiee of the Year, ending an always fun year for Neil behind the bar for Trivia Club at Hitch! Half a point ahead of him was Good Tidings we bring to you and your kin, from Laramie Cigarettes! It was wonderful to have Laramie back again for this winter after a summer away! Half a point behind Laramie was another one man team, The Sinking Ship! The top two teams were further away from the other three teams, but certainly very close to one another… runners-up on the night were the West Virginia Losers Club with 127 points!

Two points ahead were, having competed at all twenty-seven events at Hitch in 2018, and what is at this point their thirty-ninth event overall between Hitch, The Ace, and Farside, and with another themed team win after a Frightening Halloween finish… winning their FIFTEENTH GOLDEN VHS CHAMPIONSHIP… the FESTIVE MONGOOSES!
