It was a memorable night of Trivia Club at Farside this past Wednesday, as it was not only did we have our fourteenth edition of the Greatest Game Show in Toronto, but also our 600th edition of Trivia Club ALL-TIME!

I'm honoured to have brought Trivia Club to all you for one night on Friday the 13th, in April of 2012, let alone 599 events later! Thank you.

The leading team after the first round of  Trivia Classic , with more then forty points, were Ben Hayward Sucks! These "friends" of Ben, a Golden VHS champ at Hitch as a member of SHARK, had also just wrapped a critically lauded and nearly sold out performance written and directed by the man himself, Wagon Play by Theatre By Committee, as part of the Toronto Fringe Festival! Ben had a four and a half point lead on the M. White Sha-Mary-ens, who were saying goodbye to a member of their core team as Mary was moving to Montreal! The Fighting Mongooses, riding two consecutive wins at Hitch, were looking for their first win at Farside and were two and a half points back from second! Four points behind them were the Cunning Stunts, Golden VHS Champs at our 500th event! Rounding out the Top Five (top five, top five) were civil rivals of Ben Hayward Sucks, and other members of SHARK, We Tried.... We Tried... had a three point lead on the returning We Have No Thumbs, while newcomers the Juicy Yum Yums were in seventh, while the wonderfully named Trivia Pursuit, Drunk Uncles, and Princess Di-Hard rounded out the field of ten!

 Game Show Games  began with the TOP TEN Of Countdown Takedown going to Trivia Pursuit, while Princess Di-Hard grabbed eight points, and We Have No Thumbs won six points to bring them within a point and a half of the Fighting Mongooses in third place! Then in Survey Says, it was the M. White Sha-Mary-ens who notched the TOP TEN, as did Ben Hayward Sucks on a second question! Yes, a now rare TWO TOP TEN kinda night! The Juicy Yum Yums and Cunning Stunts were the other teams to gain mirroring point totals, with the Yum Yums grabbing their two solid points on the second question! Finally in Combo Breakdown, it proved a tough question and response but the M. White Sha-Mary-ens held on long enough even with their first place position to start the game, to gain a well earned EIGHT POINTS!

This meant that the M. Night Sha-Mary-ens had gained the lead from the friends of Ben Hayward, and a tough  Tri-Pardo  lay ahead! On this fourteenth edition of Trivia Club at Farside as well it was only fitting that the first and second questions would be rolled for fourteen points a piece, by Drunk Uncles and Princess Di-Hard respectively! Not to be out down, though not to roll the impossible triple, We Tried... still rolled thirteen points for the third question! Getting the third question correct but the second question incorrect, the M. White Sha-Mary-ens had actually lost a point in round three! Meanwhile the Cunning Stunts would not be out down as they hit the triple for a forty-one point gain! This was a strong crowd for a 600th event however, and Trivia Club's winningest team were now only in third because We Have No Thumbs also hit for the triple and were one and a half points ahead of the Cunning Stunts before the Finale, while Ben Hayward Sucks had told the other teams to suck it, and though they gained twenty-seven points from the second and third questions it was more then enough to gain them a six and a half point lead heading into the final answer.

With that  Finale , a number of directions could have been taken, and several teams could have won... but ultimately it was a night won by one team, though two teams were able to unravel the Finale anagram! Finishing as runners-up on our all-time night were potentially the team of 2018 so far, the reigning Grand Champions the Fighting Mongooses with 106 points! Six points ahead were the other team that may lay claim to this year once all is said and done, though they would have to do so without Mary in Toronto!

Heads high however, because now THIRTY-TIME GOLDEN VHS CHAMPS... the M. WHITE SHA-MARY-ENS won the night with 112 points! A dazzling send-off in question answering fashion, as always a fun thing to do with your friends, the ones you've known... and the ones you make along the way!

Congrats once again Sha-Mary-ens! The Shaym-Aliens are also the first team to join the Five Timers Club at four different locations, with only one other team doing so at two different locations! We'll see you all again in TWO WEEKS time for the first Wednesday and the first day of August, yes August 1st is our next edition of Trivia Club at Farside!
