 R eturning to Trivia Club's Home Away From Home of Hitch, it really did feel like yes...Trivia Club was BACK in 2018! It was also a perfect mix of house teams, familiar Trivia Club faces and of course, newcomers at our east-end game show location!

 Trivia Classic  ended with a familiar pair but with a new name, tied for first place! Lil Baby, featuring Lil Matty and Baby Patty of various Electric Bastard mixes, had the lead on the field, alongside the reigning Hitchens Cup Champs the M. Night Shaym-Aliens! Just one point behind were newcomers You're A Quizzard, Harry! one and a half points behind them were another group of newcomers Let's Get Quizzical by O'Trivia Newton John! Three and a half points back from them were the Fighting Mongooses, rounding out the Top Five (top five, top five) on their fourteenth appearance. Two points behind them were their rival since they began, and the last Golden VHS Champs of 2017 at Hitch, The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes! Tied up with the Good Folks were their long-time friend and sometimes teammates... Wookiee of the Year!

 Game Show Games  started with Countdown Takedown, as just like it did in 2017, and our first TOP TEN of 2018... was won by the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes! Winning eight points were the M. Night Shaym-Aliens, while both Lil Baby and Wookiee of the Year picked up six points each, and Let's Get Quizzical by O'Trivia Newton John got two points! The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes also grabbed the TOP TEN in Survey says, while the Fighting Mongooses grabbed eight points! Then the Combo Breakdown saw a fight to the finish between a large swath of the field with Let's Get Quizzical by O'Trivia Newton John putting up a good fight but ultimately having one more thing to blame on Woody Allen. Ultimately the first Breakdown of the year came down to Lil Baby and the M. Night Shaym-Aliens... and of those two teams, it was the Shaym-Aliens who were the last team standing, with FOURTEEN POINTS to their name!

Finally, just when the night seemed to be going in one direction... the Good Folks were going to follow up their excellent round two, with a further impressive round three in  Tri-Pardo ! Yes, going from sixth to second... The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes duked themselves into first by hitting a triple on the trio of questions in round three! Forty-five points went their way! This was a classic Tri-Pardo total, gained in an untraditional way. The Good Folks rolled the first category for thirteen points, while the Fighting Mongooses rolled the second category for sixteen points, and Lil Baby took the third question and also rolled it for sixteen points! Lil Baby gained the second-most points in round three, with 29 points from the first and second questions! Both Wookiee of the Year and You're A Quizzard, Harry! gained points on the second question, but lost thirteen of those points on the first question! The Fighting Mongooses and Let's Get Quizzical by O'Trivia Newton John gained points on the second and third questions, but lost points on the first! Finally, the M. Night Shaym-Aliens shifted into second place before the Finale, but still gained sixteen points on the second question, but still had a fifteen point gap to make up for!

In the  Finale , as always, it was a question of wagering first... and once everyone wagered heavily and in some cases, with a little room to move juuuuuust in case, then it came down to getting the Finale answer correct. Everyone got the Finale correct! Yes, after a sticky Tri-Pardo for most, it was a clean sweep. So holding the momentum going into the Finale, it was the team that finished 2017 at Hitch with a Golden VHS... that would open up 2018 with yet another Golden VHS!

Winning their THIRTEENTH GOLDEN VHS at Trivia Club, twelfth at Hitch as the Good Folks (and twenty-first if you count his wins alongside the Trusty Rumpets) opening up 2018 at our Home Away, repeat CHAMP.... THE GOOD FOLKS FROM LARAMIE CIGARETTES!
