 N ow a month removed from our third annual Christopher Hitchens Cup at Hitch, we saw the top three teams return to our home away from the Original Home of Trivia Club! Yes, on the east-end of Toronto it was a wonderful mix of familiar competitors, and all new teams looking to walk away with the Golden VHS!

After the first round of Trivia Classic, it was as competitive as ever between Tiny Tim's Terrifying Tarantula Tormentors, back for the first time since winning that Hitchens Cup, who held a one point lead over the third annual Cup runners-up the Trusty Rumpets! Six points behind the Rumpets were the third place finishers of our third annual celebration, hey dummy! In fourth were There Are Only Four Cool People Here, which itself included members of that very same Hitchens Cup winning Tiny Tim's... team as well! Sic Transit Trivia, one part of 5 Fast 5 Furious, was in fifth and five points behind her were newcomers The Flaming Hobos! Fellow newcomers The Azizas were in seventh, with the returning Gutter Gang in eighth!

With such a competitive field, Game Show Games would no doubt prove quite contentious! In Countdown Takedown, the TOP TEN went to hey dummy, with Four Cool People, Trusty Rumpets, Sic Transit Trivia, and Tiny Tim's... also picking up points! Then in Survey Says it was The Azizas picking up the TOP TEN on our first surveyed question, and the Flaming Hobos picking up a second TOP TEN! The Gutter Gang grabbed eight points, with There Are Only Four Cool People Here and Tiny Tim's... each picking up six points, and Sic Transit Trivia and those Trusty Rumpets also picking up some points! This all led to a Combo Breakdown with the broad field, that saw the Flaming Hobos eliminated first, followed by The Azizas and the Gutter Gang! Then Tiny Tim's... fell, followed by their friends the Four Cool People, and their compatriot in Sic Transit Trivia! Finally it came down to the Trusty Rumpets and hey dummy... with the Rumpets outlasting hey dummy for FOURTEEN POINTS! Well played, Rumpets!

So as we headed into Tri-Pardo, the Rumpets held the lead on the field with Tiny Tim's..., Four Cool People, and hey dummy not too far behind 'em! It was, naturally, a tough Tri-Pardo to be had, and Gutter Gang, the Flaming Hobos, and Sic Transit Trivia all lost points! The Azizas and There Are Only Four Cool People Here both stood pat with their current point totals, while the Hitchens Cup 2016 trio of the Trusty Rumpets, Tiny Tim's... and hey dummy all gained ten points! This led to a Finale, which proved difficult, but in which five teams got the answer correct! This included Tiny Tim's..., hey dummy, and the Trusty Rumpets... but even though hey dummy had the least points, of the three teams heading into the Finale, they wagered the most!

Yes, winning their FIRST GOLDEN VHS on the night, HEY DUMMY! Congrats to the two of them on a well earned, humbly anticipated victory! Having participated under a few different team names, before settling on their anniversary competition moniker, this is their first Golden VHS in five nights of participation!
