at The Rec Room Roundhouse: Cookiefaced, February 4th 2020 TRIVIA CLUB CHAMPS
February 04, 2020
It was another widely competitive night of Trivia Club at The Rec Room Roundhouse in Toronto, with not only returning teams, and familiar faces, but new competition adding the always fun unpredictability to the mix! Which team would rise to the occasion and win the Golden VHS in the Three10 restaurant?
Cookiefaced led the field after Trivia Classic , with the round one result continuing a strong 2020 for our regulars at The Roundhouse! Three points behind were their friendly rivals and fellow regulars The Questionables who were under-manned on the night but ever competitive! Half a point behind them were newcomers Show Me Your Caucus Iowa! Half a point behind them were THREE teams, in this tight field, which included newcomers Out of Place and, Aivirt, and regular solo champs Dead on the Inside on this night known as There’s No Emoji to Express How I Feel. Rounding out the field were the returning Anonymous, back from their debut last week and just two points outside of the Top Five (top five top five), and as we marked round one a new team entered in Knee Magnets!
Game Show Games saw Dead on the Inside’s There’s No Emoji to Express How I Feel take the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, while Out of Place grabbed eight points, Show Me Your Caucus Iowa! picked up six points, Aivirt won four points, and Cookiefaced were still within range for two points! Cookiefaced then followed this up with the TOP TEN in Survey Says, but There’s No Emoji grabbed another eight points, and shifted into the overall lead by two points! Knee Magnets notched six points to get on the board, while Aivirt earned another four points!
Tri-Pardo then upped the point potential on the night, with both Aivirt and Out of Place rolling for nineteen points on the first and second categories, before Cookiefaced added another fourteen points on the third category for a possible of fifty-two points to be won in round three! Hitting for the triple were the familiar faces of Cookiefaced and The Questionables, earning each team all fifty-two points! Gaining thirty-eight points from the first and second questions, though falling off the lead of the third question, was There’s No Emoji to Express How I Feel… giving the solo team a three point advantage over The Questionables but falling behind Cookiefaced who once again gained the lead! With correct answers in the first and third questions, the rest of the field gained thirty-three points, which meant that Out of Place and Aivirt were tied in fourth, but still had twelve points between them and The Questionables!
Trivia Finale wagering then saw teams either go all-in or neeeearly all-in with some cagey wagering or half points left behind, for all teams except for newcomers Out of Place who instead decided to wager twenty-five of their fifty-three to throw some potential chaos into the mix! Chaos indeed took place, as only two teams would end up answering the final question correctly!
Finishing as runners-up on their debut with 78 points were Out of Place, and repeating as Champs and winning their FIFTEENTH GOLDEN VHS, three for four to start 2020, were COOKIEFACED who ended the night with 160 points, their sixth Sesquicentennial Mark!
