 O ur other event in this unexpected alumni week took place at Cardinal Rule, and involved a long-time Trivia Club team making their (in name) official debut at the Original Home of Toronto's Greatest Game Show! Along side them were Cardinal Rule's house team Team Name, their long-time frenemy's the Unusual Suspects finally going head to head with them once again, and your friends and ours Last Place Team! We were sponsored not only by our location sponsors Amsterdam Brewery, but also the wonderful folks at The Candy Bar on 849 College Street!

To begin round one, Trivia Classic, The Bastards were all tied up with the Unusual Suspects! Yes, even after ten diverse and at times multi-part questions, The Bastards who were pulling a reverse Dylan (no, not the Shaym-Alien) by remoooving the Electric for the first time at Cardinal Rule, were neck and neck with Trivia Club's father/son dynamic duo! Seven and a half points behind were Last Place Team, and not far removed were Team Name in fourth by five points!

Game Show Games in round two then saw the reverse of the prior nights situation, as all previous teams fell out of range of points, leaving The Bastards to bet so low they didn't have a number to give... which gave them only only Countdown Takedown points, a round TOP TEN! Survey Says brought a more rounded total to the crowd, as Last Place Team gained the TOP TEN, the Unusual Suspects gained eight points, Team Name took home six, and The Bastards decide in the wrong direction but still got two good points! Finally in C-C-Combo Breakdown it was an ernest four-way battle, which saw Team Name gain four points, the Unusual Suspects five points, and the Last Place Team six points... but saw The Bastards leave as last team standing with SIXTEEN POINTS!

In our Tri-Pardo, the results were good all around but were split even further in favor of those teams already with momentum behind them, as Team Name and Last Place Team both gained thirty-five points, while the Unusual Suspects and The Bastards both sweeped the Pardo for FORTY-FIVE additional points!

This left The Bastards fifteen points up on the Unusual Suspects before the Finale, with our nominal Team's with all the more points to make up! They certainly wagered to make it happen too! Still, all The Bastards had to do... was get that last question correct and their fate would be in their hands...

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: BICENTENNIAL MARK!!

That they did! YES, becoming only the FIFTH TEAM to top 200 points at Cardinal Rule, and only the ninth team to do so All-Time (and sixth in 2016)... admittedly saying fifth team is a half-truth as our team on this night were parts and pieces of both the Electric Bastards and Electric Mayhem, two of our top five high scorers at Cardinal Rule... but I digress, they were not THE BASTARDS! First time, yes FIRST TIME GOLDEN VHS CHAMPS at Cardinal Rule, and THIRTY-FOURTH ALL-TIME, just three points off their personal high score, with 204 points!
