- # 1, # 10, or #20 dead-on gets you 13 points each.
- 10 points for # 2-9 or #11-19 dead-on
- 7 points if your pick was only one spot away
- 5 points if it was two spots away
- 3 points if your pick is anywhere in the Top 20
- 1 point if your pick is rescheduled to 2023 or pushed to streaming
The Summer Movie Wager was a game popularized by the Totally Rad Show, which uses the rules of TimeTravelReview’s Summer Movie Pool, and has now become the BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE WAGER, an all-new Extra Curricular institution and all around fun time for Trivia Club! A whole different kind of animal from the Oscar Confidence Pool and Saturday Night Live Fantasy League!
With the Blockbuster Movie Wager we want you to pick the TWENTY films that you think will be the Top 20 at the Domestic Box Office for the entire year of 2022!
At the end of 2022, we will look at the American Domestic Box Office as of January 1st, 2023 according to The-Numbers.com. Meaning that late released in 2022 will only have the remaining days in the year to make money for this exercise. This also means however that all films already released in 2022 can be included in your Top 20 Box Office (hello, The Batman). Look to First Showing for the current release dates. Remember when making your lists, their is the potential for films to be rescheduled for 2023 or to be pushed to streaming.
If we have a tie this is how the Blockbuster Movie Wager tie-breaker works: 1) getting 1, 10, and/or 20 correct, 2) the number of dead-on picks from 2 thru 10, 3) the number of picks only one spot away, 4) the number of picks only two spots away, 5) most correct picks, and 6) box office of highest pick not in the year's top 20! If after this, everything is still tied, then the winner’s trophy will be shared!
