Saturday Night Live Fantasy League: Episode 44x10: Rachel Brosnahan & Greta Van Fleet

January 21, 2019

Saturday Night Live Fantasy League presented by Trivia Club, is a Fantasy League like no other. Like Fantasy Football for the comedy nerd, participants draft cast members and prospective hosts before the start of the season and then are awarded points based of their performance through a scoring system. For additional points, before the start of each episode participants can guess which two songs they think the musical guest will perform. Since the beginning, this television institution has become the first step in the major leagues of comedy stardom, and with over forty seasons of familiar traditions, we’ve found a way to add maths to comedy and somehow make that a fun game to play.

Here’s the points breakdown for our Fantasy League of Saturday Night Live episode ten of Season 44, which originally aired on January 19th, 2019.

Thank you to Matthew S. of The Ignorant Sluts for breaking down another episode for points! For the first time, two teams got points from the same host! For the last several seasons we’ve been using a bonus round in our Host Draft to gift another randomly selected team with a “less then likely” host. The first time we did this Bonus Round, it was with ill-intentions, hosts that would NEVER HAPPEN, but since then it was more a wild card. Someone that we had on our list that seemed the least likely.

This is how the ever successful in Host selections, Matthew Smith, selected Rachel Brosnahan for The Marvellous Ms. Megan MacKay! As the practice goes with the bonus round, the person gifted with this wild card pick gets full points but the person who gives the less then likely pick gets half points, and in Matt’s case he got his half points rounded up as well!

Rachel Brosnahan was charming as ever, within an episode that didn’t fully challenge her and in a season that hasn’t been fully extraordinary. The nature of an institutional sketch show! Greta Van Fleet was also surprisingly fitting for Saturday Night Live, being a sketch of Zepplin, etc, as well!

The next episode’s hosts is James McAvoy with musical guest Meek Mill! I do enjoy when host and musical guest mixes kinda feel like a fever dream. Really the only episodes this season that have lined up are Awkwafina/Travis Scott, cause they’re both rappers, and Seth Myers/Paul Simon, because they are so very SNL.

LAST EPISODE: MATT DAMON

NEXT EPISODE: JAMES McAVOY
