It was a wild and wonderful back and forth night of Trivia Club at the friendly neighbourhood Farside! Who would come to compete at Broadview and Gerrard? Who would join the short list of Golden VHS Champions to end a calendar year of Trivia Club? We would see newcomers and familiar faces, the return of our wonderful Wednesday 'tender behind the bar, and a final twist to 2018 that showed just how unpredictable this post-Rule year had been!

 Trivia Classic  ended with Matt & Pat, otherwise known as Smartly Pretty, make their debut (and Matt's second appearance) at Farside as Baby Jesus It's Cold Outside! They held a half point lead on Biscuits (now with slightly more SPARTACUS alumni)! After taking the first half of December off the reigning Linear Champions were ready to go head to head with Matt & Pat! One and a half points away from Biscuits were Buffalo 9's (in Toronto they're a six, in Buffalo they're nines), and three points behind the 9's were Kwik-E-Smarts! The Smarts had a four point lead on White Lemon who rounded out the Top Five (top five, top five)! Brewers Yeast Infection were sixth, with a two point lead on Upstanding Gentlemen, with DRL & The Supremes rounding the field!

 Game Show Games  then saw Countdown Takedown start off the second round with Baby Jesus It's Cold Outside grabbing the initial TOP TEN, while Biscuits grabbed the TOP TEN in Survey Says before Brewers Yeast Infection grabbed the second TOP TEN in Survey Says after the field ran the table on our spin on the Family Feud! Baby Jesus It's Cold Outside then proved to be the last team standing in Combo Breakdown and take EIGHT POINTS and retake the lead from Biscuits in a second round that saw the close race ping back and forth!

 Tri-Pardo  then had Baby Jesus It's Cold Outside roll the first question for eight points, Kwik-E-Smarts rolled the second question for fifteen points, and Buffalo 9's rolled the third question for seventeen points! This meant forty points were on the line! No team would hit for the triple, but the biggest gain would see Biscuits grab twenty-three points from the first and second questions, and thus take the lead from Baby Jesus, who grabbed fifteen points from the second question! Grabbing eight points from the first question and finding themselves in the third place spot before the Finale were Brewers Yeast Infection! Losing twenty-four points and falling to eleven total before the last question were Kwik-E-Smarts. This of course put all the more drama behind the Trivia Finale, as Biscuits now had a two and a half point lead on Baby Jesus It's Cold Outside, and the two teams had nearly double the points (but not quite) on their closest competition! So as it was through most of the year... everyone went all in, if not more then all in!

Going more then all in was exactly what one team needed too, because ending the year all but one team would answer the Finale correctly! Winning their FIRST GOLDEN VHS CHAMPIONSHIP... and ending the year with 31 points... KWIK-E-SMARTS!

It was an unheralded kinda win that even surprised the team that took the competition at the end of the night! Kwik-E-Smarts become the first team since S.A.N.T.A.S. in 2012 to win their first Golden VHS as the last Golden VHS of the year, and first debuting team to do so! Congrats to Kwik-E-Smarts, and thank you to everyone who came out to compete at Farside this Wednesday night and across Trivia Club this year in 2018!

We ended our first full year of Trivia Club at The Rec Room Roundhouse with the 61st edition of the Greatest Game Show in Ontario! Would a returning Champion win the night or would a new winner rise to the occasion? It was a competitive group of teams so we had to wait and see!

 Trivia Classic  saw our first round end with the returning Crying in the Shower top the standings, one point ahead of District 329 in first place! District 329 also enjoyed some sweet prizes, while returning Champs Army of 1 + 4 was one point behind the second team, and all tied up with returning Royalty at The Rec Room, Not Turner! The returning Champions and our reigning Grand Champions had a three point lead on Salt & Pepper, who in turn had a one point lead on Joey Triviani! Rounding out the field were The Boneshakers!

 Tri-Pardo  followed, with Army of 1 + 4 rolling the first question for nine points, Joey Triviani rolled the second question for fourteen points, and Salt & Pepper rolled the third question for thirteen points! This meant that thirty-six points were up for grabs in our second round! No team would get all thirty-six, but Joey Triviani would make the biggest step forward with a twenty-seven point swing from the second and third questions! Also making a big step forward were The Boneshakers whose twenty-two points from the first and third questions slipped them into second place with a one point lead over Not Turner and Army of 1 + 4! In the  Trivia Finale  it was then an all or nothing gain… and when the dust settled only one team was left standing!

Winning their SECOND GOLDEN VHS… were NOT TURNER with 52 points! They become the sixth team to win multiple Championships at The Rec Room, after many one-time winners in our first year of competition! Ever since Not Turner won The Rec Room Royale though, the culture has begun to shift!

Congrats to Not Turner, and thank you to everyone who came out to The Rec Room to end the year with us! Thank you to everyone at The Rec Room, who works in front of and behind the scenes to help make it all possible, and of course thank you to all the teams who have come out to compete for that Golden VHS! We will see you again in THREE WEEKS, maybe our longest break yet, on the other side of the New Year for more Trivia Club and big news of more fun at The Rec Room!

Returning to The Ace before the end of 2018 for the 17th edition of our late night lo-fi edition of Trivia Club at our west-end location, we wanted to see if 2 Fast 2 Curious could go for an unconventional fourpeat in five events! Would a new team rise to challenge our west-side stalwarts, or would the team continue to answer the question! Wait, which question?

 Trivia Classic  ended with 2 Fast 2 Curious with the early lead, a good sign for their chances. Ding Dongs were seven points behind, and feeling confident, while Team Wolfpack were twelve points off the lead. We're Trying Our Best were in fourth place after the first round, doing just great, and rounding out the Top Five (top five, top five) were Emma! Round two saw  Game Show Games  begin and the Countdown Takedown TOP TEN go to the Wolfpack, while We're Trying Our Best grabbed the Survey Says TOP TEN! Finally in Combo Breakdown, Team Wolfpack outlasted 2 Fast 2 Curious and decided (wisely) to stick with their ELEVEN POINTS!

This brought the Wolfpack within one point leading into  Tri-Pardo , but that was as close as they would get! Even after Team Wolfpack hit for the triple and garnered thirty-seven points for a trio of correct answers in round three, 2 Fast 2 Curious would be able to do the same! This meant that 2 Fast 2 Curious was still holding onto the slightest of leads heading into the Finale... a lead they would not relinquish!

The field of three other teams would finish as runners-up on a  Trivia Finale  that proved tough for the holidays, but rising above for 178 points, to date the sixth highest score of the year and third highest in the short history of Trivia Club at The Ace... 2 FAST 2 CURIOUS, now NINETEEN- TIME GOLDEN VHS CHAMPS and Champions at The Ace in one form or another since September 26th!

Congrats one more time to 2 Fast 2 Curious for their impressive end to an impressive 2018 at The Ace! Thank you to everyone who came out to compete! We hope to see you again in 2018 when we return to The Ace in January!

It was A Very Trivia Club X-Mas at The Rec Room for our 60th edition of Trivia Club at The Rec Room, with The Roundhouse bringing the Greatest Game Show in Ontario to the Three10 restaurant! We were joined not only by returning VHS winners, but also familiar faces and all new participants! Who would walk away with a gilded A Christmas Story?

 Trivia Classic  came to an end with French Triviera returning from their debut last week with a top spot in the first round! They had a one point lead on Cloud, Please! Otherwise known as the Cloud Pleasers, they are a reoccurring mix of familiar M. Night Shaym-Aliens! Half a point behind them in third place were Let It Beep, also making a return, who were a point ahead of Teal Bedding making their debut with a cool and comfy team name! Rounding out the top five, tied with Teal Bedding, were the returning Toya's Destroyas! Just outside of the first five were One Man Army +2!

With 2018 coming to an end, December 10th saw the 138th edition of Trivia Club at Hitch, the final edition of the Greatest Game Show in Ontario at our long-running Black Label location! We were surrounded by the very best of competition at Hitch as well, from those who had become the trivia team of 2018, to those who had established the high water mark at Hitch but hadn’t settled in for a little more until now!

 Trivia Classic  of this A Very Trivia Club X-Mas had the Festive Mongooses in the lead, with a seven and a half point lead on Happy Life Day from Wookiee of the Year! Good Tidings we bring to you and your kin, from Laramie Cigarettes, were just one point behind Happy Life Day! One point behind Good Tidings were the all-time high scoring team at Hitch, the returning West Virginia Losers Club! The Sinking Ship rounded out the Top Five (top five, top five), making their seventh appearance!

 Game Show Games  began with the Festive Mongooses grabbing the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, while West Virginia Losers Club picked up eight points! The only team left pointless were the defending Golden VHS winners, Happy Life Day from by Wookiee of the Year, behind the bar! Happy Life Day followed that duck with the TOP TEN in Survey Says however, while Good Tidings from Laramie Cigarettes were left pointless in our second Game Show! Though the Festive Mongooses still held the lead, it would certainly be tested with Combo Breakdown… and it proved so tricky that it would indeed be Happy Life Day from Wookiee of the Year as the last team standing for THIRTEEN POINTS, and lead for the Wookiee!

 Tri-Pardo  began with a slight lead for Happy Life Day now, and Happy Life Day would roll the first category for thirteen points, while the Festive Mongooses rolled the second category for sixteen points, and finally Good Tidings we bring to you and your kin, from Laramie Cigarettes rolled the third category for eighteen points! This meant that forty-seven points were up for grabs! Laramie Cigarettes would go ahead and hit for the triple for forty-seven points! Laramie would gain the number two spot before the Finale as well, as Happy Life Day would lose some of their lead but hold onto momentum with thirty-four points in round three! Gaining the first and third questions correct but losing points on the second, the Festive Mongooses would gain fifteen points in Tri-Pardo and fall to third place, with the West Virginia Losers Club now all the closer behind!

This led to a wildly unpredictable finish to the night with the  Trivia Finale , as The Sinking Ship chose the last category, and the standings were swapped around like presents at an office holiday party! Finishing in fifth were Happy Life Day from Wookiee of the Year, ending an always fun year for Neil behind the bar for Trivia Club at Hitch! Half a point ahead of him was Good Tidings we bring to you and your kin, from Laramie Cigarettes! It was wonderful to have Laramie back again for this winter after a summer away! Half a point behind Laramie was another one man team, The Sinking Ship! The top two teams were further away from the other three teams, but certainly very close to one another… runners-up on the night were the West Virginia Losers Club with 127 points!

Two points ahead were, having competed at all twenty-seven events at Hitch in 2018, and what is at this point their thirty-ninth event overall between Hitch, The Ace, and Farside, and with another themed team win after a Frightening Halloween finish… winning their FIFTEENTH GOLDEN VHS CHAMPIONSHIP… the FESTIVE MONGOOSES!
