W e returned to Farside for our sophomore session of Trivia Club at the newest home of the Greatest Game Show in Toronto! Yes, that cozy creative bar at 600 Gerrard St East with birthday cake and ace cocktails continues to be a dream. We're glad those of you who joined us during an especially cold week for what was the first FOUR TRIVIA NIGHT WEEK for Trivia Club! Woah!

Following that up with Pause + Play on Friday, it was a full work with of Trivia Club, y'all! Adding Saturday Night Live Fantasy League to the weekend, and you now you are no longer surprised what took this recap so long to get up. Yep, my bad!

Thank you once again to Mike and Rachel for having Trivia Club, we're working on a lot of fun stuff for 2018 as well! And Farside is so wonderfully accessible on the College and King streetcars, not to mention a quick jaunt from Dundas and Queen cars as well!

 Trivia Classic  was a battle of familiar faces and recent Trivial Award winners, as well as the returning Golden VHS Champs from the inaugural Trivia Club at Farside! Newcomers of the Year for 2017, the Fighting Mongooses, were in the lead after the first round (when half the team wasn't enjoying Alvvays in concert, that is), while just two point behind them Trevor Tyres had returned to look and make it two for two! Two points behind Trevor Tyres, who on this night added a new team member who had himself played (for the first round) at the very first night of Trivia Club at Cardinal Rule, were The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes! Yes, our Team/Player Award winners for 2017 were just four points off the lead in this tightly contested field. Further off of that top trio were late comers but game Trivia Clubbers, Murray, and returning for a second event at Farside... Quizzly Bears!

 Game Show Games  begun with an always competitive Countdown Takedown, a question which saw Trevor Tyres take the TOP TEN on, tying things up with the Fighting Mongooses who grabbed eight points, while Murray took six points, and the Quizzly Bears grabbed four. Putting themselves on the board in round two were the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes, who got four points in Survey Says, though were still a step back from the Fighting Mongooses who notched another eight points to regain the lead from Trevor Tyres, while Murray grabbed the TOP TEN! Finally in Combo Breakdown, things were straight and to the points! The last team standing, by a stroke of Texas, were the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes with FOUR POINTS! 

 Tri-Pardo  was a round, after the unpredictable second round, that proved this night was still anyones game! Though the Fighting Mongooses very much had control, our third round was set to knock them around. After the Quizzly Bears rolled for seventeen points on the first question, Fighting Mongooses rolled for fourteen points on the second question, and Trevor Tyres rolled for nineteen points on the third question, a full fifty points were up for grabs! The Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes would swing on all three questions and connect with the last two, which would give them an extra sixteen points! This would be the high water mark, as the third question would prove dangerous for everyone else. Murray would lose nineteen points on it, while both Quizzly Bears and our returning Champs, Trevor Tyres, would gain seventeen points on the first question but lose points on the next two questions, for a sixteen point slide in total. Finally, taking a five point hit and losing the lead for the first time on the night, giving the Good Folks their first lead, the Fighting Mongooses gained fourteen points on the second Tri-Pardo question, but lost nineteen points on the third! 

Heading into the  Finale , and with our second event at Farside as December Weird as one would expect, anything was still possible! With an adding mix-up on their end, the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes left more points on the table then they had intended... while the Fighting Mongooses held onto three points! Finally, Trevor Tyres went all-in! Ultimately... the Good Folks just needed to get the last question correct however...

And yes, mission accomplished! Following up on their Trivial Awards appearance from the night before, THE GOOD FOLKS FROM LARAMIE CIGARETTES further cemented his reputation as the Beast in the East by proving that his GOLDEN VHS CHAMPIONSHIPS go to ELEVEN! With ten Golden VHS at Hitch, the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes are now our second winners at the Turbo Video Zone of Chinatown East!

Congrats to The Good Folks once again, and thank you to everyone who came out and kept this sophomore from slumping! We'll see you all again in 2018, with a whole host of exciting plans for January! We're just getting started, but we already know one thing for sure... Farside certainly looks and feels like home, folks.
