at Thompson Diner: David Bowie's Corporate Whores, August 29th 2019 TRIVIA CLUB CHAMPS

September 01, 2019

It was a new day for Trivia Club in Toronto, and our inaugural event at our new location, the Thompson Diner! Joining us were both long-time competitors, well traveled and well decorated within Trivia Club, and also an ample selection of teams new to the game, more familiar with our new location then with Canada’s Greatest Game Show!

Trivia Classic , at this event including a selection of Game Show Games within the round, finished with new faces in the lead as In It to Win It grabbed the top spot after round one! Three points behind them were the M. Night Shaym-Aliens: First Class! A two person team on the night, the Shaym-Aliens were a welcome sight for Trivia Club, as Trivia Club’s veritable house team they’ve always traveled well! Half a point behind them were Chicago Beef Salamis, celebrating both their first night of trivia and their friend’s imminent move to Chicago! Half a point behind them were Blondies, who themselves had a one point lead on David Bowie’s Corporate Whores! The Corporate Who's were making their first appearance since their win at Farside on September 5th of last year! Outside of the Top Five (top five top five) were It’s Nice to Have a Friend, who had a two point lead on Ilana, and then rounding out the field were Ditsy Diners!

Tri-Pardo  then brought out a two point question rolled by In It to Win It, followed by a fifteen point question rolled by It’s Nice to Have a Friend, and finally a sixteen point question rolled by the M. Night Shaym-Aliens, giving thirty-three points to win in round two at The Diner, weighted towards those second and third questions! Grabbing those second and third questions and gaining the lead from the five spot were David Bowie’s Corporate Whores! It’s Nice to Have a Friend shifted into second place with a fifteen point correct answer! The Shaym-Aliens kept their answer field blank, and were now half a point behind Chicago Beef Salamis, who answered the first and second answers correct but got the third question incorrect and thus lost sixteen points to end up with a net one point added!

Trivia Finale  answers saw Chicago Beef Salamis and Ditsy Diners’ incorrect answers leave them with zero points outside of the Finale Top Five, while In It to Win It doubled up and finished with fifteen points for fifth! Finishing in fourth were Blondies, while It’s Nice to Have a Friend finished third! The runners-up for our inaugural Trivia Club at the Thompson Diner were the M. Night Shaym-Aliens, who finished with 63.5 points!

That meant our INAUGURAL GOLDEN VHS CHAMPS at the Thompson Diner, and winning their TWENTY-FIRST championship overall… were DAVID BOWIE’S CORPORATE WHORES with 104.5 points! Having kept close after round one, they answered the high leverage questions that they needed to in round two, before putting all but twenty and a half of those points on the line in the Finale! David Bowie's Corporate Whores also join the M. Night Shaym-Aliens, Cunning Stunts, and Matt & Pat (as individuals) to win a Golden VHS at five different locations, with the Whores winning at Cardinal Rule, Hitch, The Rec Room, Farside, and now Thompson Diner, which also makes them the only winner so far of each of our active locations in Toronto!

Congrats once again to David Bowie’s Corporate Whores, and thank you to everyone who came out to our inaugural night of trivia at the Thompson Diner! We’ll see you all again in THREE WEEKS at The Diner, on THURSDAY September 19th! Remember you can reserve your table ahead of time, and we look forward to bringing you even more of Toronto’s Greatest Game show just south of King and Bathurst!
