Socratic Shield

“To know is to know that you know nothing. That is the true meaning of knowledge.” The teachings of Socrates point towards the importance of learning, and a love for both the bigger lessons and the more trivial. “Beware the barrenness of a busy life.” Trivia Club’s Socratic Shield is not so much an annual physical prize, but more a mark of those teams who have helped shape what Trivia Club is in a given calendar year. Awarded to the team with the most Golden VHSes from January 1st to December 31st, winners of the Shield are almost a Socratic Method in and of themselves, giving you an idea of at least the who, what, and where of that calendar year. In 2021 the Socratic Shield would be handed out to the most Top Scores at on-line events from the Trivia Clubhouse. “Wisdom begins in wonder.”

⸸ Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the last Golden VHS won was on March 10th, 2020. Trivia Club resumed on-line, from the Trivia Clubhouse, with Cookiefaced garnering the Top Score at an event an additional two times. Down by the Bay would garner the Top Score nine times in 2020, while Matt Smith and the Electric Mayhem would garner the Top Score eight times.
⸸⸸ No Golden VHS tapes were won in 2021, but the teams competing in the Trivia Clubhouse live stream are noted for their Top Scores.
