Saturday Night Live Fantasy League: Episode 43x09: Kevin Hart & Foo Fighters

December 17, 2017

Saturday Night Live Fantasy League presented by Trivia Club, is a Fantasy League like no other. Like Fantasy Football for the comedy geek, participants draft cast members and prospective hosts before the start of the season and then are awarded points based of their performance through a scoring system. For additional points, before the start of each episode participants can guess which two songs they think the musical guest will perform. Since the beginning, this television institution has become the first step in the major leagues of comedy stardom, and with over forty seasons of familiar traditions, we’ve found a way to add math to comedy and somehow make that a fun game to play. Play at home,  or keep tabs on how we’re doing in our Saturday Night Live Fantasy League!

Kevin Hart proved a surprisingly uninspired host. From a monologue that was easily skippable, to a series of immediately forgettable sketches, which provided light chuckles. How does a three-time hosting comedian not have one reoccurring character? Kevin Hart hosted a show that wasn’t bad, it just was. I’m not even mad, hell I’m excited because I got to see the Foo Fighters rock 30 Rock… including an excellent X-Mas medley to close the show, a charming goodnight from the rink that saw Kevin Hart ham it up on skates while Kenan Thompson reminded us that he is in fact a Mighty Duck forever.

Rob M. and The Party Andersons continue to roll on that moneyball towards a seemingly inevitable Hartman Trophy, but it should be noted that he doesn’t have the highest producing cast with The Party Andersons! He’s been both successful with Host picks AND a well chosen Cast, but if not for 197 Host points, Megan M. and War Horse Can Dance would have the lead. It’s up to every Host she predicted would host, to help her out in the New Year. And also, Chris Pine. For moral support?

And sure, there could have been a better host to bring us the Christmas episode, but I will say this… we get Sam Rockwell to open 2018! How amazing is that?! January 13th is the next episode of Saturday Night Live, and it gives us a half-way make in the season’s proceedings! Halsey will be the musical guest, and admittedly I’ll look to get back on track in reminding the League about song choices. December has been a whirlwind, with planning and executing the Trivial Awards, running four different location events, while also getting ready to say good-bye to Trivia Club’s Original Home of Cardinal Rule!

Thank you for taking part, or simply enjoying, this FIFTH season of SNL Fantasy so far in 2017! Merry Merry, Happy Happy, start making those personal promises that you can’t hope to keep up… see you all in 2018!
