M onday at Hitch means Trivia! Yes, now weekly, every Monday until X-Mas... it's time for Trivia Club! What better way to start this weekly adventure, then with our FOURTH ANNUAL Christopher Hitchens Cup! Who will follow PETE!, the Trusty Rumpets, and Tiny Tim's... and win the Black Gold?! Well, it looks like the perfect mix of familiar and semi-familiar faces all in the race, for our first round of competition. The best two out of three scores will be counted, with the Cup being awarded at the end of September!

Trivia Classic showed just how close the field was! After round one it was all of one point between the Fighting Mongooses, who were tied for second with Wookie of the Year, and the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes who were in first! Things weren't going to get any less tight throughout the night! In fourth place were Lt. Dance who on this night were known as Comedy Central presents the Roast of... Potatoes! Rounding out the field of Trivia Classic teams were Team Rocket!

Game Show Games began with a Countdown Takedown that inevitably gave the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes a solid TOP TEN points, while Wookie of the Year picked up eight, Team Rocket took six, and the Fighting Mongooses grabbed four points, while the Roast of... Potatoes took two points! Survey Says followed with the Good Folks grabbing ANOTHER TOP TEN! Yes, these friends of the Trusty Rumpets, members of the 2015 Hitchens Cup winning team, were looking to continue a legacy of their own! Roast of... Potatoes grabbed eight points, while Wookie of the Year took six, and the Fighting Mongooses slipped into third place with two points in the second Game Show Game! It all came down to Combo Breakdown, with the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes being the first team to slip and fall from the Breakdown! Eventually it came down to Team Rocket... and the Fighting Mongooses! And wouldn't you know it, winning FIFTEEN POINTS were the Fighting Mongooses! This brought them back within two points of the Good Folks from Laramie heading into the Finale. And yes, this night wasn't just about the Hitchens Cup for the Fighting Mongooses, they were looking to do something truly unprecedented, and be only the fifth team to Threepeat at Trivia Club, doing so in their first three appearances at Trivia Club!

Tri-Pardo then saw no shortage of points up for grabs, with the first category being rolled for eighteen points by the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes, the second category being rolled for nineteen points by the Fighting Mongooses, and the third category being rolled for TWENTY POINTS on the first roll by Team Rocket! With a potential 57 points up for grabs, the second most ever in a Tri-Pardo, anything was possible! Team Rocket grabbed one point, with a correct answer in the second category and an incorrect answer for the first category. Comedy Central presents the Roast of... Potatoes, picked up eighteen points on the first category! Finally, picking up thirty-seven points each on both the first and second categories were Wookie of the Year, the Fighting Mongooses... AND the Good Folks from Laramie! This meant that, yes, going into the Finale question there was two points between the top two teams and eight points between first and third!

Finale wagering was a mix of all-in, from the fourth and fifth place teams, and more careful wagering from Wookie of the Year, who was looking towards the remainder of the Cup run! Wookie of the Year had been one of the top two teams against the Trusty Rumpets in our first annual Hitchens Cup, with the thought that yes one of these two teams would walk away first the first Cup... until PETE! came from nowhere to win the Black Gold on the second night of competition! Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes, part of the Trusty Rumpets team that would return on the next year for the second Hitchens Cup and hold off the reigning Golden VCR winning Electric Bastards to finally win that Black Gold of their own, did not wager a single point for the final question! Wagering HALF a point, were the Fighting Mongooses! Wagering low and betting on the field had treated the Mongooses quite alright already with two Golden VHS tapes to show for their first two Trivia Club appearances!

In the Finale, every team however WAS stumped... all of them, save for the Fighting Mongooses! But it was the wager that did them in this time! With only half a point up for grabs, the Fighting Mongooses finished second for the first time in their short Trivia Club career, and team that won was the same team that finished as runners-up to them at the 95th and 96th edition of Trivia Club at Hitch, including a two point loss at Hi#095!

Now NINE-TIME Golden VHS CHAMPIONS... the GOOD FOLKS FROM LARAMIE CIGARETTES! This gives the team their seventh Golden VHS as purely the Good Folks, with the other two coming in the team-up era of Trivia Club popularized by the Electric Bastards, in wins alongside the Rumpets and Wookie of the Year!
