T wo weeks since our 95th edition of Trivia Club at Hitch, we were BACK  for number 96th... and it would be the last bi-weekly edition of Trivia Club at our Limited Edition location of Hitch Limited! In THREE WEEKS time we will be BACK on September 11th for our first WEEKLY edition of Trivia Club at Hitch! Yes, we will be beginning weekly trivia at our home on the east-end during the fourth annual Christopher Hitchens Cup! Before we get there however, before all that excitement, let's talk this past Monday night and the 96th Trivia Club at your friendly neighborhood Hitch!

Trivia Classic brought The Man With The Candy back as, simply enough, THE and saw the trio in first place after the first round. Just two points behind them were the returning first & gold champs the Fighting Mongooses! A single point behind them were newcomers We Stared at the Eclipse! Two and a half points behind them were the returning Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes, with a point and a half behind them another group of newcomers Captain KERP! Yes, with only seven points separating the five teams it was set to be a competitive night!

Game Show Games returning to its good ol' reliable format, with the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes gaining ground on the leader board with the first TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown! In Survey Says their would only be one team that put points up, and that would be THE with the TOP TEN! Finally a fast and furious Combo Breakdown saw the Good Folks and Fighting Mongooses both pick up one points, while Captain KERP walked away with FOUR POINTS as the sudden and unexpected last team standing! Though Game Show Games had thrown some seperation into the field, that was not going to last in round three...

Tri-Pardo began with a two point question for the first category, before adding a ten points question in the second category, and a twelve points question in the third category! That's the kind of easy math that our host loves. And adding it all up, the first question proved tough, but it also proved too good to pass up for two points! That meant that every team that tried it would get it incorrect however, as We Stared at the Eclipse and Captain KERP picked up a much needed twenty points each, rocketing them to first and second place before the Finale question! Not far behind in third however was THE, with Good Folks from Laramie in third, and Fighting Mongooses suddenly fighting from the fifth position, twelve points behind the leader!

With the tight field, it was as important a Finale as ever! So it was no surprise that our top three teams... THE, We Stared at the Eclipse, and Captain KERP would all go ALL-IN! Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes played things safer, wagering nearly half of their points, while the Fighting Mongooses made the always brave choice of betting nothing... thus betting against the strong field of competition!

On this night that bet would pay off! Yes, it proved a Finale that no one would get correct, and because of that the Good Folks from Laramie Cigarettes would finish as runners-up, and making it...

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: TWO FOR TWO

Our Champions on the night, with their SECOND GOLDEN VHS at only their second event, the FIGHTING MONGOOSES! Still a good team name. Their two for two is matched by Spartacus (our first Champions at Cardinal Rule), the Ghost Creek Drinking Society (our first Champions at Hitch), the Dime Beggars, Lt. Dance, and Karen from Finance! A wonderful and also kinda weird list! Huzzah!

Congrats to the Fighting Mongooses, keep up the good work, and thank you as well to the wonderful teams who came out to compete and make it another wonderful night of Trivia Club!
