 V ery special guests joined us at Cardinal Rule this past Wednesday, as we were carried forward by the momentum of a Blue Jays Wild Card win aaaand sponsored not only at Cardinal Rule by Amsterdam Beer, but also on the night by Warner Bro's new film The Accountant!

Leading after the first round were a PAIR of teams, Last Place Team and the M. Night Shaym-Aliens, each with 24 points and only alphabetical order splitting them up! A half a point behind them, yes just a half a point, were the Cunning Stunts in third! In a solid fourth place, some five and a half points behind, were Team YXE our special guests on the night... Russel's family! Yes, a team led by your mom and dad is no doubt a true test of bias! Though, it can be said too that they can certainly take care of themselves as these are the people that helped led down the road of trivia to the Club! A family with a Trivial Pursuit reputation of its very own! Not only that, but YXE was joined by PETE!

Round two then saw the M. Night Shaym-Aliens grab the TOP TEN in Countdown Takedown, to begin the Game Show Games! Last Place Team grabbed eight points, while the Cunning Stunts picked up four points, and Team YXE grabbed six points! Next up in Survey Says, it was Last Place Team who picked up the TOP TEN, with the M. Night Shaym-Aliens grabbing six points, and those Cunning Stunts grabbing two points! Finally in C-C-Combo Breakdown, it was Team YXE dropping out first with one point to their name, with Last Place Team dropping out next for two points! So in a head-to-head battle between the Cunning Stunts and M. Night Shaym-Aliens... four points went to the Shaym-Aliens, and FOURTEEN POINTS went to the Stunts as the Last Team Standing! This capped off an impressive Game Show Games for our top three teams, further pushing at just how even the field was, as the Cunning Stunts, M. Night Shaym-Aliens, and Last Place Team ALL picked up twenty combined points!

With half a point gap remaining between the top three teams, it was set to be an incredibly dramatic round of Tri-Pardo! After the three questions, The Last Place Team picked up fifteen points from the middle question, while the M. Night Shaym-Aliens got ahead of them with twenty-five points thanks to the last two questions but an incorrect first question! Team YXE and the Cunning Stunts each grabbed forty-five points in a clean sweep of the Tri-Pardo round! The trio was enough to grab the Cunning Stunts sole possession of first place for the first time of the night, while Team YXE moved into second place by a single point over the Shaym-Aliens! This then brought a Finale that saw both the Stunts and Shaym-Aliens going ALL in... while the Last Place Team left eight points on the table, and Team YXE bet a single point! Yes, PETE! was able to convince the Saskatoon-adjacent visitors to bet low and hope for the best...

And it paid off for Team YXE! Yes, full disclosure, Russel's mother and father as part of TEAM YXE did win their SECOND GOLDEN VHS (their first was at Hitch, which teeechnically brings them two-thirds of the way to a Triple Crown as well), and bias being what it is he is very happy to see them pull out the victory in the end! They also win the Linear Championship Belt, which might very well be defended by PETE! in the near future! But bias being what it is, and "FIX!" no doubt being yelled from somewhere on the internet, it was a well earned victory (ultimately unexpected at that) against such a competitive core of teams!
