Saturday Night Live Fantasy League: Episode 39x18: Seth Rogen & Ed Sheeran

April 13, 2014

Minding the P’s and Q’s of SNL
QUALITY: Connect to the Trivia Club Network and LISTEN to that Deep Thoughts on SNL podcast! And not just because the Saturday Night Live Fantasy League commissioner is on the horn for this episode either! A good time was had by all on this weeks podcast, even with prevailing technical difficulties. LISTEN TO THE PODCASTSubscribe to us on iTUNES!
PROBLEMATIC: Something about the post-Weekend Update portion of the show this week could not hold up to the promise of the opener, with Seth Rogen being capable as a host but not enough to make up for abrasive (Wedding Rehearsal Dinner) or rudderless (420) sketches. In the unofficial power rankings Rogen falls below Paul Rudd and Kerry Washington and their uneven episodes, putting him in the lower half of hosts in Season 39.
QUALITY: One thing that was certainly positive, as you will see, was the renewed perspective on those cast members who have not yet gotten a spotlight shown on them this season. Nasim Pedrad! Mike O’Brien!

Stay in the conversation! Trivia Club would LOVE to hear feedback on Saturday Night Live Fantasy so far, either in the blogs comment section, on Trivia Club's facebook page or in our twitter feed. For now we'll be taking a week away to discuss, debate, and possibly trade amongst ourselves. LISTEN TO THE PODCASTSubscribe to us on iTUNES!

Andrew Garfield and Coldplay are the host and musical guest respectively, three weeks from now, on May 3rd. We talked about it on the Deep Thoughts with SNL podcast, something that may or may not make it into the final edit, but on top of being hyper aware of screen time for your specific cast member, I'm now more aware of the television schedule for Saturday Night Live. It feels just when I'm getting into the habit of watching it again every week, they take another prolonged break and it's been hard to gather momentum for the show ever since the Fallon/Timberlake Christmas show. Hopefully Spider-Man and the formerly "biggest rock band in the world after U2" (TM) can help boost the show towards the finale.

Speaking of which, we have some fun plans for the finale in terms of SNL Fantasy League goodness! OH, and might I add, congrats to BILL BRASKY's Saad on his second correct host prediction! It's two and a half if you count Timberlake's musical guest/co-hosting stint with Jimmy "So excited!" Fallon.

So see you in THREE WEEKS for Andrew Garfield and Coldplay!

Keep an eye on the blog for not just more SNL Fantasy League goodness, but also new editions of Ask Trivia Club and the Winter 2014 edition of Trivia Club's Quarterly Awards!

Coldplay, like Spider-Man, deal in primary colors. Though mostly Yellow.
