Saturday Night Live Fantasy League: Episode 39x17: Anna Kendrick & Pharrell Williams
April 07, 2014
Minding the P’s and Q’s of SNL
PROBLEMATIC: You aren’t listening to the DEEP THOUGHTS podcast?
Go! Do it! For a more in-depth breakdown of the happenings of SNL from some quality personalities? LISTEN TO THE PODCAST! Subscribe to us on iTUNES!
QUALITY: So, the women of SNL are going to be in Cosmo just
in time for the finale, hey? Now I can save time and get sex tips AND SNL info
from the same place! Other then Colin Jost’s twitter, of course.
PROBLEMATIC: Yes, you will see that Killam gets the “LIVE
FROM NEW YORK…” points, as opposed to McKinnon, stealing the capper in an unprecedented
move! A first for SNL Fantasy League, with this on top of the early season
audit of Fantasy League Saturday Night Live on twitter… Taran is certainly
making a late charger case for MVP!

QUALITY: Anna Kendrick was a quality host, supported amply
by her musical theatre background ala Anne Hathaway. What puts her in the top
five and not in the top three was the uneven writing on sketches, giving us
strong reoccurring sketches but nothing that was especially new and exciting save for the above related image.
Even “Dongs All Over the World” wasn’t quite what “(Do It In My) Twin Bed” or “Boy
Dance Party” had been. So yes, pretty good! Even if Kendrick wasn’t ask to do
much other then stand around and sing, I have strong hopes that her first show
won’t be her only hosting duties on SNL!

Stay in the conversation! Trivia Club would LOVE to hear feedback on Saturday Night Live Fantasy so far, either in the blogs comment section, on Trivia Club's facebook page or in our twitter feed. For now we'll be taking a week away to discuss, debate, and possibly trade amongst ourselves. LISTEN TO THE PODCAST!
After a long Wrestlemania week (I'm a man of diverse interests, folks) we're keeping the breakdown TIGHT this week. With Seth Rogen up next week as well, and the Don of the Apatow Gang having not been picked in the Host Prospectus Draft (no Brian, Seth Green doesn't count) we're left with the distinct possibility that the FINAL THREE ANNOUNCED HOSTS... will help very much in deciding who wins the FIRST Phil Hartman Trophy!
Less dramatic news includes Mihiser breaking his silence, and Kyle Mooney coming into his own as the go to cast member for the odd celebrity appearance in sketch (you can add Captain Picard alongside the Pope now), and Taran Killam is taking NAMES (and "LIVE FROM..."'s) as the rep cast member to watch in these final four shows.
How will it all shake out, as we wrap things up? Tune in NEXT WEEK to watch Seth Rogen (and no doubt Franco, Segal, McBride, Jay, and maybe Paul Rudd again... JGL?!) play around with the SNL cast! Of course, I would love to be in the room when Killam talks comics, and the planned Preacher adaptation, with Rogen... but such is life.
Also, Ed Sheeran. The kind of rock star that makes Seth Rogen look like a movie star. |
